  1. Ok, no one has one, but I thought for information purposes I would follow up with the reply from Stanley... So, it has a mode switch with a 'locked' and 'unlocked' symbol on but it does not lock in the locked position... hope they never get into model railway manufacturing
  2. I had to laugh at the suggestion of Thomas The Tank Engine replacement bus service set.
  3. Does anyone have one of these? https://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-cubix-self-levelling-laser-level/69712 I have just bought one from Screwfix and I am unsure as to whether when being used in the locked position the laser pendulum should still swing. I returned the first one thinking it was faulty but the replacement is the same. I borrowed one a few years ago and can't remember noticing it did this. When turned off the pendulum is locked, so I thought when using it in the locked position the pendulum should still be locked but with the laser on as I see no reason for it to swing when using it on the ceiling for example.
  4. This is the problem with all GW locos looking the same... Sorry, I'll get my coat
  5. Living on a 'Lakes' estate (all streets named after towns/villages in the Lake District) of which there must be one in most towns, I often get misdirected mail. The giveaway is in the postcode. I have reposted them with a note on the envelope but I have never had any re-directed to me and I have had expected post go missing.
  6. Understandable, yes, especially when you see the standard of written English on some model railway forums. Although there are some who feel it does not matter.
  7. Issue 9 April/May now available online http://www.mremag.com/index.php
  8. ...and how much sympathy those that take peoples money without providing the goods get from some.
  9. Well I never! You learn something all the time on here.
  10. Got it, my mistake, I wasn't clicking on the [page 30 of 30] I was clicking on the current (highlighted) page number 30. Page numbers are examples.
  11. Just tried that on a couple of threads with multiple pages and can't get that 'jump to page' box.
  12. Interesting article on water softening... http://www.lmssociety.org.uk/monologues/M13.pdf
  13. I assumed it after reading of his problems with using momentary contact switches to operate solenoid motors. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/132487-baffledpoint-motor-electrics/
  14. Better to go for the PECO passing contact switch rather than the Hornby, especially if using a CDU.
  15. Already being discussed... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/132468-novel-new-load-for-coal-wagon/&do=findComment&comment=3095600
  16. In the early days a friend of mine got £100 cashback on a £95 policy. I think they are a bit more clued up on it now.
  17. Does anyone use cashback sites? I first used Quidco https://www.quidco.com/ in 2007 to get £75 back on car insurance from Esure on what was already a good quote. The next was my buildings insurance that was linked to my mortgage. When the yearly statement came there was over £200 added for insurance which I noticed was underwritten by Churchill, I got a direct quote from Churchill for the same cover for £68 and got £60 cashback. When my next two car insurances were due I changed them to Churchill who gave very competitive quotes and got £100 cashback on each one, a quote for a 4 year old MX5 was £170, the cashback made it £70. I have been using Topcashback https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ for a few years now and had a few hundred pounds back. I only do it for insurance policies now but there are many online retailers that work with these sites giving various %age cashbacks. I got quite a few bob back a couple of years back when I decided to renew all my kitchen appliances. Last weekend I renewed my home insurance with Aviva, renewal quote was £120, I let it expire and got a new quote for £110 and £50 cashback. If staying with the same company you need to let the insurance expire to be able to get a new quote. You don't get the cashback immediately, they wait a few months to make sure you don't cancel the policy after getting the cashback. If you have used them what did you think, it's a no brainer for me.
  18. I have something similar in mine, it is a Fluidmaster Flapper https://www.fluidmaster.com/toilet/part-type/flappers/ Fitted nearly 20 years ago, never gone wrong.
  19. I have three of the previous version of the Princess locos, all of them had to have the b2bs adjusted, they were so far out the bogie wheels on one fell between the tracks. I remember the driving wheels being 13.2mm on one loco. After adjusting them all to 14.5mm there was so much slop I had to put plasticard overlays on the frames.
