Having used both in the past, following a number of DCC80 failures, I binned the small number I had and went over to using only single or double T.V Hex Frog-Juicers from then on, until I went back to the dark ages and stopped using DCC.

Just to add to the argument abot size vs distance, we have below a photo of two LNER van chassis, the near one is 4mm very close and the rear one is 7mm very far away. This of course is complete nonsense, the near one is 7mm awaiting its new owner, the rear one is a Bachmann one to which a number of brass etchings have been attached in an attempt to see if I can still 'do' 4mm scale.

Shock, horror - If I do manage to get a OO trainset going it will be DC unlike my previous O gauge with DCC sound. Spent the morning painting a short length of Pecaboo bullhead track using Lifecolor acrylics, to see if 4mm is like 7mm from further away. Tolerably pleased with the initial result, now for some ballast testing. Beds Platelayer

Thanks chaps, I will order some Limonene and see how I get on. Colin will also look your suggestion re buildings. The only problem I may have with that is MDF is also on the list of no-no's as the dust is very fine, so gets through many of the commercially available masks. May be able to use plywood or bass wood instead. Cheers Vaughan
