  1. Panto included though. I hear Snow White is on at the London Palladium this year, maybe it includes tickets for that
  2. Apart from the EM conversion with a lack of wheels I find the line "Postage will be by Royal Mail, or ParcelForce, this naturally costs a little more but I refuse to use couriers, who lose, or damage items, or leave them in display in your porch." far more humorous (or deluded)

  4. They dont really have a website the nearest they have is the previous proprietors blog http://branchlines.blogspot.com/ the details on the page are still valid and they do answer their emails

  7. Model Railway Constructor produced a drawing in OO &O with an article in their last year of publication. The same drawing was reprinted in Model Rail some years later. Sorry, dont know the publication issues/dates

I like Radio 2 for four shows: Sounds of the Sixties (Sat AM), Sounds of the Seventies (Sun PM), Sounds of the Eighties (Fri PM), and Pick of the Pops (Sat PM?).

Depends on your music taste, obviously, but not all bad. IMO.

  10. Nene. Is it nen or neen? heard both on the BBC this morning

If you're actually navigating the river, what it's called is neither here nor there, you spend your time cursing the guillotine gates on the locks. Lots of inventive names turn up!

  11. Why is there a market for alcohol free gin and why does it cost more than regular tax/duty paid gin? mind boggling right now

So much for the reliable supply chain of these motors, that's why the gearbox manufacturers won't tool up for them.

  13. why do ebay scammers start with the phrase "I'm so dissapointed"

  14. Brush built the Rhodesian Railways DE4 Class with the same engine (ish) I think one might have been preserved. Think they were all out of service by mid 90s but there maybe youtube videos with sound available... maybe
  15. Shellac has a shelf life once its mixed, A homebrew mix lasts about a year - year and a half and then will refuse to set hard, you get a tackiness to the finish. Always better to mix up small batches from flake and alcohol. Its easy. Another problem with buying pre-mix off the shelf is that you dont know how long its been there
  16. yes, it works alright with very little difference. The alcohol flashes off at about the same rate as meths and importantly for French polishing ipa can be bought without the purple dye - not a problem with natural flakes but irritating when using blond granules for a clear finish.
  17. but youre missing: Your order will also include 2 FREE Mystery Gifts!!! maybe its a gold bar and a small pouch of diamonds
  18. 42 degrees outside the backdoor. East Anglia always rainy and cold

  20. Havent done one in awhile but seem to remember the brushes and springs for Dapol and Hornbys Ex-Dapol models fit. At least in the Castle and 4f having the same parentage, I think the Castle springs were shorter as well. Try searching for x8314 and x8328 for brushes and x8315 and x8329 for springs. Look at the photos and if youre still not sure as the supplier for measurements
  21. You missed the different casting for the sound version of the XS suffix refurbished chassis and the red bufferbeam refurbished chassis for the DCR model. Hornby have commissioned and SOLD OUT at least two batches of non-sound refurbished chassis blocks - I bought 4. AFAIK they havent produced a non-refurbished buffer beam cowl fitted chassis block yet for the 5512 and 31270 models - at least I havent seen any.
  22. except the locodrive 9Fs have a problem with disintegrating tender chassis. Had another mazac rotten one to fix this week. Its only Easier/ Quicker/ Better to scrap it if you can afford to do so and the item is actually of better quality as Hornby is finding out, not everyone wants or can afford the latest product supposedly better item from China.
  23. A1 Models kit is available again https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142726378285 I think Shawpaln do a nice set of etchings as well of the class 73
