  1. Don't worry, if Rees-Mogg has his way we'll all be using cubits.
  2. It would have been easier to quote 700 yards because thats what it is.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I've spent the afternoon watching TV, specifically Help! I've bought a village. Its very difficult to find the times in the listings but I've managed to do so. There are twenty episodes in all and the program is on Channel 4 at 4 PM. every weekday. The first ten episodes have been shown but are available on catch up. I see that Simon is watching it as well, he just posted a few minutes ago.
  4. Heads up, the program I mentioned, Help! I bought a village is currently showing back to back on 4seven, channel 143 on Virgin and I think its 140 on Sky.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Well it was morning when I started reading through ER's. My dad used to drive for Eastern National in the early 60's out of Brentwood garage. He was waiting to load in Brentwood High Street when he felt a bump. Then his conductor came up and told him a car had run into the back of the bus. Fortunately the seats at the rear were still empty as the car, a Hillman Minx was imbedded into the back of the bus up to the windscreen. The car drivers excuse was that he hadn't seen the bus. The bus, a Bristol FLF was repaired but it had to go back to ECW to be rebuilt.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The program I mentioned, Help! we bought a village, is a series of ten programs. From the listing it is on every afternoon next week at 04:00. What I watched this afternoon was the first program and shown as a repeat. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/help-we-bought-a-village/on-demand/72146-010
  7. Thats the name, on Channel 4 4:30 PM Saturdays.
  8. Hello again from Estuary-Land. Earlier this evening I watched a program about people who have not just bought a house in France or Italy but an entire village. Some certainly had their work cut out, many of the buildings were derelict.
  9. Governmentium is an inert element that is linked to unobtanium.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Pleased to report that Clive a fellow SEERS member and a good friend of mine has been honoured for his charity work. https://www.ehaat.org/national-volunteer-week-carole-clive/ The fact is that he didn't mention it at all two months ago when he received it.
  11. Is Poly Bear Boris Johnson's alta ego?
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. One problem about having all the windows open in the hot weather is that sometimes a fly will get into the house. They sometimes end up where you cant use fly spray such as the kitchen. Thats where the spiders come in, they grab most of the intruders before they get to the kitchen. The spiders are more numerous than last year and the other day I had to rescue an enormous one from the bath. It was so big (4"/10cm) that I couldn't cover it with the toilet roll tube but fortunately it clung to the outside long enough for me to let it go outside of the bath.
  13. At one time WHS was pretty good but during the last recession they cut back on staff and more recently laid off many more due to covid. They were not the best of companies to work for and now most of their staff have found better employment elsewhere.
