  1. @45568 you'll be tempting @rapidoandy as this Hunslet is another Middleton Railway loco.
  2. Many units are built specifically for single operators and seem to have limited livery and regional spread. This seems to have been an issue that only when pacers, sprinters and super sprinters were operated throughout various places. I can't see anyone ever doing the earlier Transpennine DMU or even a modern detail wise version of the Calder valley units which have a limited area. If you are going specific why not the Parry People Movers that do Stourbridge?
  3. There have been a pair of GBRF 66/7's on Midland Road in Leeds this weekend looking like they have seen some RHTT action 66764 "Major Tom Poyntz engineer & railwayman" and 66776 "Joanne" Ones for the very heavy weathering modellers!
  4. Subject to the usual proviso a date for your diaries is 1/1/2024 when Sir B is planned to be running at the Middleton. Let's hope the weather was better than yesterday as we had snow in Leeds.

  7. The NYMR staff locked the doors with a T key before operating along the main line when I was on it this year. Wonder if that was a reaction to the West Coast issue. Horses and stable doors!
  8. @Michael Hodgson you have plenty of time to save up for a Jones Goods if that is what you mean by keeping up with the Jones! 😉 I have an account that I call slush fund where I stash money so that when I want a foreign rail trip or a new model I have the funds. There are some folks who struggle to find funds when putting fuel into the car. Currently I'm between jobs and have a few items on order as I know that I have money available.
  9. One variation that seems to have been missed by the various manufacturers is the 25/0

    Dapol Class 323 in OO

Need one without a motor and stripped to bare aluminium so that could represent shunting them into and out of the works whilst being built!
  11. That makes the one I started my modelling life with as basic
  12. @Neil Urquhart if there are any specific magazines that folks suggest there are appropriate articles contained within copies can probably be purchased from "Vintage Carriage Trust" at Ingrow - They will post but better to call in and have a look for your self as you will find something else of interest.

During December many chase and photograph the trains You might bump into me lineside at Embsay, Keighley or Middleton. Feel free to share your atmospheric photos of your local trains no matter which country you are in. Must find my photos from a trip I had to Santa Cruz a few years ago.
  15. For those who have not had a chance to read the RAIB report about the incident that happened in January at the GCR - see link to report below. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/653f8149e6c9680014aa9ce2/R132023_231031_Loughborough.pdf
  16. @Mark Saunders yesterday the pair 66847/9 were black bright. I thought that I had taken a mono photo by mistake until I sae the red tail lights poking through the grime!
  17. I wonder if the Spanish are laughing If you do a translation of "Nova" it means "not going" How ironic is this in relation to MkV stock?
  18. Cat will be out of the bag at 1200 today as per FB post from them. Based upon the video with Fran and Andy Y steam...
  19. I can imagine that if I had a 3D printer and got the file to print off an item that morally you should pay for each time that you decide to print a copy. Arguably just like music downloads you could have printed out an item and have it in multiple paint schemes and you do body swaps onto your mechanism. This is comparable to music on laptop, mobile, and car where you can only listen to one at a time.
  20. Many of the smaller locos can be accommodated on layouts of all sizes. Just look at how many shunters/trip locos seem to sell well. As most BR classes of shunters are/have been done then there will be scope for more steam of similar size to the J52
  21. 66847 at Midland Rd on Sunday. On Friday it was on the RHTT through WKK at the rear with 66849 which is why it has great weathering
  22. Then by some fluke of the tendering system a few operators make orders for new stock. Not like the way that Skoda got a large expression of interest for far more locos than one country needed before they joined the EU so that they can call on them indefinitely without needing to tender.
  23. @nightstar.train LNER planed to use 2*5 cars on K+ to LDS then split into Bradford/Skipton and Harrogate. Most of the Bradfords seem to be 91's
  24. Friends who work at various TOC's question the quality of CAF trains as they have given them an expansion of the acronym "Cheap As F". I'd be thinking that the build quality, reliability and comfort are the reasons why they are built down to a price. Perhaps they are thinking of releasing the 5 car units. The services that these were doubled up on could be run using one 10 car train plus only need one set of catering staff. Another thought might be to take out of use some of the 5 car units and place the centre cars into others to lengthen to 9.
