    EBay madness

Well the alleged kit builder should be congratulated on doing such a fine job of matching Hornby's (Railroad) plasticky teak effect not to mention the incorrect number of windows (due to the coaches being too short) and capping it off by applying exactly the same numbers as Hornby including duplicating these across more than one coach.

Ditto a couple of his other items. The teak coaches can't be anything other than Hornby (although there might be one oddity in there) and you can even read "Hornby Dublo" in the Pullman brakes photo. Funny how he knows the buildings are Hornby. "purchased from a serious enthusiast" - presumably someone enthusiastic for another hobby rather than railway modelling.
  3. The seafoam versions of your trees are excellent Jeff. I do wonder if the walls and trees have finally pushed you over the edge though. Is that last armature coated in ground up Ferrero Roche? You are the ambassador and I claim my £5.
  4. Definitely a penalty and yellow card but surely even without other defenders the Scotland winger has to catch the ball from a lengthy kick and touch it down without spilling it so the ref must have had a lot of confidence in his ability to do this. ... did ref bottle England penalty at the last scrum? One can't help but have that suspicion.
  5. Oh dear. You've said it now! I bet Jeff's already searching for suitable scale tuft material.
  6. Such sad news. Grahame was an all round top bloke. Great modeller and always ready but never pushy with advice not just on modelling but ever helpful when I was doing some building work too - he was an ex Building Control Inspector. A lovely man with a great sense of humour. You'll be missed mate.
  7. In case anyone hasn't spotted it: https://www.itvmedia.co.uk/making-an-impact/premiership-rugby-seals-new-partnership-with-itv-sport tigerburnie might be pleased with the first programme at 15:00 this Sunday.
  8. A garden sprayer with a pump. You can tune the nozzle to a fine jet and pump up the pressure. They don't dribble like toy water guns either. I have found the best anti-cat measure to be prunings from spiky plants like pyracantha and berberis scattered around the borders. Birds like blackbirds and smaller don't seem to be bothered by them and cats quickly learn to keep away. You just have to remember to always wear gloves when weeding.
  9. Great news! Thanks for the update CK.
  10. Total petrol stations used to have a card scheme where you collected points. You could apply for a single card but not for two cards on the same account. However, for some reason you could have more than two cards on the same account. I applied for and received a card for myself, my wife and each of the seven dwarfs!
  11. I have just noticed an odd discrepancy, I think. melmerby posted some photos back on page 35 of his W1 still in the plastic shell and, further down, where he provided the clearance measurements within the rear truck. His W1 looks like it has more clearance between the tender screw and the electrical socket. My W1 (also the original shape) matches melmerby's, i.e. it looks like there would be sufficient clearance. I have just tried refitting the draw bar the other way around and it does fit which is clearly not the case with yours John. When I say it fits, it actually requires a little fettling to work because the stamping hasn't been cleaned up and the end needs filing smooth. This appears to be true of the one in your photo too where there is a little nib just at the very end near to the double holes. (Someone mentioned this aspect earlier where they were concerned it might damage the wires.)
  12. Send Grahame my best wishes too please. Looking forward to more updates on his electric bike trundlings once he's out and about again. And some of his top quality modelling too, of course.
  13. I converted our double garage, doing all the work myself just under a decade ago. It cost less than £4,000 including Building Control approval to create a roughly 5 x 4m room with 1.2m deep storage across the front. The storage is accessed via the garage doors and the room is accessed via what used to be the garage personnel door. I agree strongly with Nearholmer's advice. The Building Regulations are not especially difficult to follow but they are open to interpretation and this is even more applicable to Planning. The only way to be certain is to make an appointment with the local authority Planning Department and talk through what you have in mind. If it sounds like it will be feasible then make another appointment to talk to a local Building Inspector, ideally on site. I did not require planning permission but it differs from area to area. The Building Inspector was enormously helpful.
  14. I find myself in agreement with most of your post but felt I'd make the above amendment.
  15. Why bother with a brush when you can just pour the paint on? Blimey!
  16. Yes, that should serve as a warning to anyone contemplating asking for "behind the scenes" photos of you at work!
  17. Your walling has always been good but this is something special, Jeff. Looking forward to further developments.
  18. Some inconsistency it appears. I have pre-ordered one of the LNER variants but have not received an email. Thanks to Paul.uni and Tractionman I am now aware of the delay.
  19. So no deliveries for the next 2000 years and a takeover in about 800 years? Imagine the height of the froth line by then?
  20. Perhaps you could shrink the hills by a percentage? Or model some low cloud? Some views from the other side: https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/19796455.amazing-photos-malvern-hills-show-clouds-never-seen/#gallery0
