  1. Nasty!! Hopefully they can maintain the water level, to avoid any localised hot spots and serious boiler damage, until the boiler cools down.
  2. Could you put the new board between the other two Osney boards to make one layout? Just an idea.
  3. Also, well located for extracurricular activities, as well. The last time I walked down the Pigalle, I was accosted by a young lady, wanting me to go with her, I told her that I charged 100 Euros an hour, she soon left me alone.
  4. Are you doing some butchery, as your using a cleaver, or is your smell chucker working overtime?
  5. I had a look at the AG loco kit list this morning, there's been no change since I looked in November, still 1 of each, for 850 and 1076 ST and PT.
  6. You need to create the turnouts first, the filling jigs are bespoke to each size of turnout, unless you're going to use only one size of Vee crossing and switch size.
  7. The timbering is also appears to be equalized incremental, ie. square on to the turnout centre line, the crossover looks to be square on to the straight roads. See Templot for details.
  8. There's the Wills Vari-Girder bridge kit, in the Peco range, you construct as many panels as you need, from memory the panels are 20mm long, but may be a tad more.
  9. Looks reasonable, but I think it will depend on the weather, nearer the day.
  10. A list of traders would be nice, to see if it's worth travelling up from Plymouth. Thanks.
  11. I thought it was a nice little show, but I think they tried to squeeze a quart into a pint pot, there was at least one pinch point on the opposite side of the hall, there were several box file layouts and a GW 00 layout opposite where two wheel chairs were trying to pass each other and the GW layout operator, he stopped operating and moved around the end of the layout to allow them to shuffle past each other. The catering appeared to be great, but unfortunately, I couldn't partake in the cake, because of my diabetes. Hopefully the show was successful enough to have another one next year, with some revisions to the general layout and cater for us diabetics. I didn't spot any loud shirts behind the Saltash club layout, so I assume that Monsewer Blackrat was not in attendance.
  12. Hi Stationmaster, Not heard of West London Yard, before your above post, any information on this probably very important location would be most welcome. I'm going to assume that like locos, people of the age concentrate on express locations and formations, rather than the humdrum local stuff.
  13. Blacksmith Models are making a comeback, a few more kits for the todo pile!
  14. Are you using the space saver horn blocks and guides?
  15. It's has just been on the Spotlight news, that the seawall has had some damage done by a recent storm, just north of the recently restoration/ upgraded section. It has not been enough to close the line, but has resulted in closure of the footpath. This has apparently not been very well signposted.
  16. Not only them, from what I overheard whilst driving school buses.
  17. If they come out in both pre and post 1922 livery, then I would be up for one of each in both liveries!! If bank managers were still extant, mine will be groaning.
  18. Yes it does, that's how I got mine and a couple of 1076s to go with them. They're still in the one day stash. But, there's always a But it does take some time to get to the magic number, maybe up to a couple of years or so!!!
  19. 850 kits are occasionally available from Alan Gibson, put your name down for one and when the list gets to ten Colin will run off a batch.
  20. There's a book, that has all the GW express passenger train formations in it for 193*, I can't remember the title. From memory most Padd trains were formed of 4 or 5, 70 footers and included catering facilities.
  21. Even now there's a lot of F/B turnouts still sitting on timbers, take a look at your local station or junction and see what it's made of. The plain track will be on concrete, especially if it's high speed and/or has heavy freight traffic. Loops could be either and sidings could still be in bullhead.
  22. There was an article or two in the much missed GWJ on Devizes, with a good selection of photos and other information. I don't have ready access to my collection to give chapter and verse on what was in the article.
  23. There's an awful lot of situations where concrete bearers can't be used for switches and crossings, due to the nature of the track layout. In the 80's? when York was being remodelled, the south end was done with concrete bearers, because the main route was straight. The north end was done on timbering, because both routes were on opposing curves. Concrete is only used where standard with the standard components, unless things have changed, in the intervening years.
