  2. Torn between 3 Ilfracombe. My father moved to Combe Martin and I explored the remains of the line (wonderful views). Penzance 60's early 70's never remember steam but the view from marizion beach as the early warships (D600-D60?) roared out of Penzance and past the crossing onto the beach was inspiring to a youngster. LLandudno. Part of the station had a very large model railway. My parents and sister would go to the beach and I woud spend a couple of hours watching the trains going around and over the hump shunting yard in the middle. If pushed I would have to choose Penzance.
  3. Found these two pics on the web :- https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p942588997/h1fa78d98#h1fa78d98 https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p942588997/h11ad14c2#h11ad14c2 I remember these being around when the tracks were embedded in vastern road. 20 was parked just on the north west side of the Vastern Road bridge and the gates for access to cross the road to the depot on the north eastern side were padlocked on both sides of the road
  4. it would seem(???) that Connections 1 and 2 only feed the track so 3 and 4 are to the controller Connections 3 and 4 in dc mode have to be poweredby 15v ac 1 and 2 have 12v dc It would seem that connections 1 and 2 are seperate from 3 and 4 3. Therfore I think Elite 1 and 2 Select to 3 and 4. A way to check is to power 3 4 with the select and see if any current gets to the tracks. I cannot be sure without a circuit diagram on the Heljan controller. I am not an electronics wizard and am not sure about this answer but it might work. Sorry not to give a definitive answer. Chaz
  5. My understanding is that the Select acts as a slave to the Elite and all of the commands come from the select. This is unless you can set up Select and Elite to the computer via different USB links (is this possible?????).
  6. I don't understand what your meaning. I may be mis interpreting your meaning but I did not know that railmaster could run 2 controlLlers at the same time multilple decoders yes As the Heljan turntable runs as an accessory default accessory nos starting at 228....... See this URL https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/forum/post/view/topic_id/5803/?p=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjvKv6jwCmQ Chaz
  7. Not sure about this. Will you be operating the accessories from the same controller as the motive power? I power mine from the track bus totally as it uses very little power. The main thing to notice is to get the power correct to power the tracks/whole unit the right way round.
  8. I am building a model of Readng South with lots of compromises but essentialy the same with no goods yard yet! The track layout is essentialy correct.

    Hornby Clan

I picked up Clan Buchanan from Ebay (spares/repair it derails) for £100 On examination the brake gear under the loco had been fitted the wrong way round (front bogie was hitting and would not go round any bend) pony truck had the flanged wheels fitted and the tender drawbar was bent all easy fixes now runs perfectly.
  16. Right click on the cell/s choose "format cells.." and choose "text"
  17. I cannot seem to find details of the connections needed to use a common return to multiple switchpilots when externally switching. I realise that there is a common return for all 8 contacts per switchpilot but can that be extended to multiple switches for use with stud and probe or multiple lever switches? I can just use my NCE/elink but it would be nice to have a more traditional system as a backup KZ
  18. At last!! Arrived today very well packed with wagons 23 4 25 with NEM pockets. Now to fit chip. KZ

  20. I had 9 months after approval to wait until I retired My boss and almost all of the academic staff I supported didn't want me to go but I had an Eccel sheet running on my server the whole time with months weeks days hours seconds runnin most of the time whenever my boss came in she was most dissapointed to see it. I miss the people themental stimulation but not the pressure from central computer services to cow tow to the new regime. Which I, my boss, and all the academic staff hated!!! well out of it but I felt sorry for my colleagues.
  21. I left working life 5 yrs ago just before my 60th birthday. Due to an imposed change in job role and the offer of enhanced redundancy. This has enabled me to sell my house in Berkshire (3 bed semi) and buy a 4 bed detached in Wellingborough (now 3 bed and railway room) and pay off all morgages with a cash surplus. My pension whilst not huge along with my partners pension (NHS) has allowed us to live a very comfortable life without any financial worries. Things will improve further in the future when the state pension kicks in. It is well worth checking on the gov uk site to find the state of your state pension, you can buy extra years if necessary (mine was sufficient that I felt it not worthwile to increase my pension by a small amount). I joined the local model railway club in Wellingborough fix locos for the local shop swim twice a week and ferry my other half (non Driver) to all sorts of craft and garden businesses. Would not go back and do not regret the decision to retire early.
