  1. We stopped off on the way home from Goodrington just for a browse as the kids were probably sick of seeing steam trains on their holiday. Disappointed to see the diesel instead of 1369.Thursday was the best day as we sat on the beach whilst 5239/7829 strutted their stuff.A very nice holiday. You must have been one end of the line and me the other on the SDR .
  2. Blimey Mark so was I ! I was at Buckfastleigh this morning and saw the LT pannier and took a couple of shots.
  3. Definitely not and I have the photos to prove it and will post them later.I must admit to wanting to model 'Goliath' as she stands with all her inaccuracies.
  4. Back from holiday to see Bale potentially being sold for £100m and my club Coventry being liquidated for the sake of £250,000 with a ten point deduction. That's football for you.
  5. I've seen both the GWR 42xx and 52xx preserved locos in Paignton this week and they have the rear bufferbeam number on the left side of the coupling as Hornby have modelled it.My 72xx is the same so can we assume this is correct on these three classes going against normal GWR practice ?
  6. Back from a holiday in South Devon.What have I missed ?

Nothing. All very boring and unexciting. Nobody took the Finching sisters out and only Arthur Swidger got drunk!!!!

  7. I'm just back from the South Hams and the board saying 'Somewhere Special' isn't wrong.Took a few photos of preserved steam to follow.Never saw the Finching sisters.
  8. I've no idea but I don't like that colour scheme myself.Much prefer the light/dark stone but you knew I'd say that anyway. It would look nice in my back garden.
  9. Hornby have definitely got the good start on the shunters truck as the Bachmann model won't be out till December at the earliest. Hattons email. We thought you may like to know that an item you have on order with us, has had some information about its release date added or updated. Bachmann Branchline 38-676 GWR Shunters Truck GWR Grey 'Newton Abbott' £10.58 Our latest information from the supplier suggests this item will arrive with us between December 2013 & January 2014 Whilst we are hopeful this information is accurate, manufacturer lead times are frequently prone to be delayed. This information is to be used as a guide only.
  10. I think they're called signal boxes.Yes,the GWR always takes priority. Did you sort the window etches out you wanted.
  11. That will be a beautiful coach when its finished Chris.Watching with interest.
  12. Feeling peckish this afternoon I popped in to Joseph Auld's corner store to treat myself to some saffron cake.I was astonished to find a new line of cake he's now stocking. Plenty to go round if anyone else wants some........
  13. Not my idea,I took inspiration from Mikkel's Farthing blog and he uses characters names from Dickens novels. The skill is remembering who's who when mentioning them on here.
  14. Just been having a pint in the Packhorse Inn and spotted this old photo on the wall of two old dears sat on the up platform from years ago....
  15. I'm surprised Hornby haven't brought out a limited edition wagon to celebrate the birth of Prince George of Cambridge

  16. I converted a few of my layout photos like you and like yours they convey some character in them and remind me of the old Railway Modeller pictures before the advent of colour.Good work Al.
  17. A few b&w conversions of Sunday's offerings. The Finching sisters wish to thank everyone for their support. Hopefully my anomalies will get well watered later.

Hah we'll know we have a classless society when the news is read by a bloke in a string vest who announces "she's sprogged"

  20. As I'm technically the Finching sisters guardian I would like to put on record the sisters although they've been depressed of late are not in need of a stay in an asylum.Obviously having just returned from Eastern pastures might ascertain that this might be the case.In the words of Griff Rhys Jones,I am convinced they are of sound mind.I am convinced... They also would like to point out there's other anomalies on this layout that are more important than their sanity. As for the crabs they enjoyed them on a sandwich with a bit of Devonshire salad.More healthier than Mr Aulds pasties.
  21. Yes the Bachmann pannier has stood the test of time well and it bodes well for the new 64xx coming soon.Meanwhile a final few of 3796 coming into the station.I need to get some Churchward style lamp irons for my siphon g hence no tail lamp.Dart are out of stock.
