I'll be there with Werrington road which was set up earlier this evening. Looking forward to the show and it's great to see all the layouts/traders back in the hall after a few years away.

I know money is tight in local authorities these days but considering how long the hall has been closed you think they would have managed to at least clean the walls.

I don't recall it being that bad (the hall seemed to be very light and airy), but will have a good look tomorrow.

After the hiatus at the school, returning to the "traditional" venue seemed almost effortless, a credit to the hard work and organisation that goes on beforehand. Yes there were probably some issues, but there are with all shows and there is no such thing as the perfect venue.

Definitely worth a visit if you're still undecided about going tomorrow.

Good to see this show back in a single hall after 4 years (that long ?) A good show.

The actual hall does not seem to have benefitted from any refurb in the tnterim, as others have mentioned!

It looks like the floor has been re-lined and varnished. The grime on the walls will not put me off visiting today, looking forward to it :)

Visited yesterday, came away many pounds (of money) lighter with some intended purchases and some impromptu.

Personally, was a bit concerned by the number of layouts with nowt running and hand of god intervention, but it may have just been bad luck.

There seemed to be a lot of space to move around, hope that didn't mean numbers are significantly down?

Couldn't decide between Farringdon or Eisengebrau as favourite layout, both off the radar as far as my modelling interests of BR post '65 - pre-tops go! :)

Was good to see you yesterday Andy. I agree on Farringdon and also found a lot of non running on many of the layouts. Some were better on the my second circuit around the hall.

My observations on yesterdays visit where .....

1. On arriving outside no help in parking car as there is now what appears considerably less space to park.

2. Two large layouts not finished to a state where they should be exhibited.

3. Some k**b with a beard and glasses taking photos of layouts inside the barrier. No consideration for the public viewing the layouts or anyone with epilepsy  .(why do they do this during public hours ?)

Overall not worth the £8 this year. Always next year to hope for,

.....I'll get my coat.

Visited yesterday and throughly enjoyed the show, in particular two layouts caught my eye, they were Towcester with fine scenery, working semophors and a friendly operator, the other being Eisengebrau with it's delightful scenery, bird song etc and a lady operative whom I thank for a very pleasant and informative chat. The only downside to my visit was the lack of a specialist DCC trader.

The big money was spent in completely rebuilding the swimming-pool area and reception area, both of which now look excellent (if that's your cup of tea).  But I agree, the actual exhibition hall looks as though it has barely been touched and the walls did indeed look somewhat grimy.  No idea specifically why, but with Local Authority finances under very severe pressure indeed, any cost-overrun on the main project would have left them looking at cutting corners on any "nice to have" extras.

Not long been back. Was an enjoyable afternoon out with my modelling mad step-daughter (took my phone off me to take pics/vids) and sleep deprived wife (went after an 8pm-8am shift)

A picked up a couple of Lima Hoovers, while the SD got a few bits like Oxford vans/cars as well as a 3D scan.

Scary the wife is starting to recognise classes..... be it an A4 or a Class 73 "Isn't that what we saw at Ruddington?"

Great Show and congrats to the organisers for letting us in early to get a coffee and Bacon Cob before the main doors opened.

Excellent Layouts all around, top of the Shop Farringdon and Scout Green and also Midland Ohio, thanks for a Play Nick, a lovely Layout to run.

I travelled up from Essex, as soon as I left my sunny home county there was fog all the way to Nottingham. Soon cheered up by bumping into Andy P, George T and Mike (not on RMweb) in teh refreshemnet area and Mr P brought me a cuppa. :good:

Too much money was spent in one go. By the time I got the wheels motor etc. for the shunter kit Mike Edge exchange for a page out my cheque book it had doubled in price. :swoon:

It was great to meet Jamie with his Lancaster layout. Met Barry O for the first time was well, sorry didn't seem to get much time to chat. I met loads of people I don't see that much around the shows I normally attend.

As others have said I don't think today was a good day for operating a layout, many seemed to be suffering form a variety of problems, mishaps etc, or did I turn up at the wrong time.

I did like Farringdon but the best layout today for me was Nobby and Bedlam George's Toasta Towcester.

Edit, I must be tired I forgot to include meeting John (Allegheny 1600) as well.

Visited Saturday.

It just felt so much better in the hall.  Much easier to find your way around, revisit etc etc.  It was a good exhibition with some great models.  I can live with Grantham being WIP, its quality WIP.  Lancaster Green Ayre is also good to see as it comes along but as a result of being WIP some of the running was weak and God's hand/stick appeared.

Best for me was Farringdon.  I enjoyed looking at a quality layout with just one loco on it.  Too may would have found some reason for more but its unrealistic.

Given I was at Leamington only last week, the trade did very well indeed from me.  Lots of little purchases.
