Just back from the club. Laurencekirk is loaded in the van and ready to take the short journey to the Dewars Centre tomorrow morning. Hope to see Lots of people over the weekend. Pop by and say hello.

Plus a trailer load of barriers and barrows. The floor marking squad are ready to start first thing in the morning and we've seen the first copies of the bumper 48 page show guide.

Just setting off on our journey to exhibit Craster BR(NE) 1950/60's 7mm layout.

If you are visiting make sure you stop by and say hello.

As an extra we are fast forwarding Craster to the 1980's for the last two hours on Sunday so if you want to see some Banger Blue action don't forget to come and see us.

Regards

Chris

Hi all,

If you are out and about in Scotland tomorrow...

Come to the show - It's well worth going out of the way to visit us.

Some really excelent layouts tolook at...

Just wish I had time instead of getting the demonstrations going on the Scottish modellers stand.

See you if you make it!

If you don't - put it in the diary for next year.

Thanks

Really excellent exhibition. I arrived about 12 and left at 3 only because I had a dinner appointment in Glasgow. . In that time I had done one circuit of the both halls. Excellent exhibits , lots to see. Plenty space too, in previous years there had been choke points, but not this year.I think it's fair to say there is something for everyone

For me the standout was Thornbury Hill . Southern region, not something we often see north of the border. 6PULS, Bullied double deck stock, emus, West countries , lots of action, great stuff. Clifton and Lowther lovely N gauge layout , Elderslie O gauge lots of action, Alloa, fantastic as always . A little disappointed in Blair Atholl to Dromochter . I do remember this from Model Rail Scotland from the 90s. Then I found it visually stunning but not much going on. I think it's much the same now . I observed 1 train , 67 on the sleepers in about 5 minutes of waiting. Maxwell colliery is similar . Huge layout , visually stunning but not much going on . But overall lots of layouts . Good stuff. Well done to all who organised it. And for £7 well worth it.

I took the car and parked it in station car park which is almost adjoining the Dewars Centre . Previous experience had shown all car parking in the centre full. I didn't think £3 a day parking was excessive,

I attended yesterday, my first visit to Perth (shiftwork always got in the way before) and what an excellent show ! Many thanks to all those who make such events possible, also to Waverley47708 for all the info posted here. Every layout builder and operator should be congratulated for the efforts they put in, so it is slightly unfair to single anyone out, but I have to say that Thornbury Hill was also my favourite, in particular for the superb trackwork at the junction and the fleet of SR EMUs. Looking forward to next year !

Due to commitments yesterday I went today, arrived around 10.30 and got parked in the Centre's car park no trouble albeit in a dirty great puddle. A superb show again even my dear wife was impressed and that does not happen too often before she left me to read her book on the comfy seats at the entrance, an excellent touch.

That left me free to spend too much as usual. Some great bargains to be had books, locos and kits. Also a very nice selection of layouts. While not normally something that takes my fancy much I was also as others have said impressed by Thornbury Hill even if no steam was in evidence while I was watching. Ballyconnell Road also impressed.

Left about 2.00 for a late lunch well satisfied and special praise to the chaps on the GNoSR stand for entertaining my wife and even getting a sale of some Christmas cards from her.

See you all next year. Thanks.

Best wishes

Jamie

Wow, what a show!

I'd have to say that's one of the best shows I've been to in as long as I can remember. There really wasn't a weak layout on display and more then a handful of crackers.

If it had to pick one I would have to say that Clifton & Lowther ticked all my boxes, I've been itching to a large scale deployment of the n gauge finetrax system and this layout shows instantly why it's worth it. Not a complex track plan by any stretch but boy it looked good, with top notch n gauge stock too.

Another that floated my boat is Laurencekirk, first time I'd seen it.

Saying that there was another 10 maybe even 15 layouts that caught my real attention.

Good to see the n gauge Clayton.....

To the organisers, the chap going round handing out foldable standing platforms for the kids, you sir are a legend. My wee boy hung on to his from the moment it was given to him (chap with German accent perhaps) to the very last layout. As if the quality of layouts wasn't enough that in addition was a touch of class.

HI all,

What a great weekend!! It was the first time exhibiting at Perth and at a Scottish show and both my self and the operating team on the layout had a great weekend. The organising club where all very freindly and polite and nothing was to much trouble. Being a Scottish show the Piping in of the first visitors of the day was a nice touch and even the added karokoe on sunday (not the club or centres doing I hasten to add) didn't

The show, for the breif periods I got to walk round was great with something for everyone. I managed to spend far too much money on bits and bobs!!

For those that missed it, its well worth visiting so put it in the diary for next year and the only thing left to say is a massive thanks to Stan and his team for letting us come and play trains for the weekend and look forward to being allowed to repeat the trip soon.

Cheers

Simon

Hi all,

Did we have a lovely time at the show - you bet we did!

Another great show from Perth MRC - Thanks to Stan and his team of helpers.

We had a great time with all that was going on on the Scottish Modellers- featuring DEMU stand at the show.

It was good to see the fair number of the non Scottish DEMU members visiting who came to speak to us on the stand.

Once again we were provided with lots of good layouts and a wide selection of traders/retailers.

We had a good time on the demo stand - over the weekend we had a variety of things going on which included....

Keith with the NPCCS project
Andy with some 'Emmet' stock and military lorries.
Rodders with some Wagons - minerals and WVW's.
Martin with his 2fs 'Yellow Peril' HST project.
Stevie and myself with some DCC sound projects.
Jeff with some odd bits of work in progress
Myself with DCC Clinic and some more BR Yellow vehicles for the next part of the series in UPDate

David managed to pay us a flying visit on his 80th birthday as well!

In addition to this several of us took turns to help Max with operating his layout - Maxwell Colliery.

Already verbally agreed with Stan that we are back next year - paperwork to arrive at some time.

Thanks

ps - Stick it in the diary for next year!

Outwell Village all stored away after a great weekend at the Perth Exhibition. We had lots of good comments and conversations with members of the public. Thanks to Stan and his team for the invite, and for the hospitality from the Outwell team

Hi All,

Here are the winners (photos will be posted a bit later)

Best in Show (The Harburn Hobbies Trophy) was won by Ian McCreadie (and Calum) with Blair Atholl Towards Drumochter

They also won the Greenscene/Ten Commandments Trophy for scenic or architectural modelling for the snow scene section of the layout.

The Jimmy Robertson Cup for technical excellence was won by the Thornbury Hill Owners Group with Thornbury Hill

The Robert Bruce Memorial Shield for scenic excellence was won by Stafford MRS withr their layout Whiteacres.

The general feedback we had was that there was some difficulty in judging due to the high nomber of quality exhibits. That is a good thing we think!

Hi,

Yes, we did have some funny goings-on with the PA system on Sunday afternoon. Apologies for that. Our initial fear that someone had taken the mic was not realised - it seems we were picking up a second signal fro a nearby building. First time that has ever happened! I wonder if they were getting our seminar announcements??

On behalf of all the members of the Perth & District MRC team, I would like to thank all who came as exhibitors, trade or specialist societies. Everyone contributed to make the show a successful one.

Dates for your diary -

Perth 2018 takes place over the weekend of 23rd and 24th June.
