It's the radar equipment for the Network Rail Class 37s, which sit in place of one of the underframe tanks!

97303 (explored)

Cheers!

Fran

Get back to me when you’ve got an EWS one without early warning capability :)

Excited yet?

Poor Fran! You've had a pretty underwhelming response to these radar frames that I'm sure you've been dying to share with us!

Well, I for one am excited, though not about the model of this particular 37, more about what it says about your commitment to detail, and about how good the 37s are going to be...

Isn't that by Golden Earring? :laugh_mini:

So who knows which ETCS radars are on which locos? Arent there 4 NR locos and 2 WCRC locos? Is 97301 unique in this respect?

Correct!

97302-97304 Ansaldo radar frame on left, 97301 Hitachi radar frame on right

Correct, but it's hidden away!

Oh so at least my Bachmann 669 won't be inaccurate

The fuel tank where the ERTMS gear is,  is split into two underneath the middle of the loco and has a different (sharper) outer profile to the original.

Well that's mean! Looks like I'll need to do a bit of modelling now. But at least I have a better idea as to how they look.

To save you having to do that modelling, I could sell you an Accurascale one for £169.99 ;)

Out of curiosity from left to right which goes in what?

Plus seen less detail in one of my old Airfix Kits, top marks :good:

On some they were broke and boy did that give you a kick in the arse if you hit a bad joint!

A lot more will be revealed next week!

Cheers,

Fran

This is rtr not a kit ?

:jester:

This could be a whole new way of making your next product announcement... do it in installments, or even do your own loco announcement in an advent calendar, with the rtr full version on the 24th ?

We are thinking of doing it like those magazines. 2000 issues for just 5.99 to build your own 37....

as long as the first issue is £1 I’m sure it would do well ;)

So at risk of asking a sensible question...

Theres a ton of detail there, including the taps/valves for the fuel tank..much more than weve ever had on a class 37 before...

So the question is, is there fuel tank variations in the class, as arent all Triang, Hornby, Bachmann 37’s todate of a single type ?

And second question.. hows that attaching to the frame ?

There was the boiler tank and fuel tank with boiler tanks later getting replaced by long range fuel tanks etc, so some variations. As we previously said, we're going all out on these.

They will attach with a screw. As you can see removable weights are in the tanks for better traction.

Cheers!

oh nurse ..........

in all fairness though what a time to be alive with model railways when this is the amount of detail you can pack into a loco, just my opinion here but when the Bachmann 37 with sound is only around £20 cheaper with what is going to be made a very out dated model can anyone else see accurascales models quickly taking the top spot for models.
