ianmacc
Most of the Oxford diecast cars are based on real cars. That means their models of classic cars are actually suitable for modelling periods right up to now as they are modelled on survivors!
Indomitable026
A bit of idle fiddling around in the sun this morning, not sure if it qualifies as gardening or not... I’ve said before I’m reusing some boards from my abandoned L&B Project converting them for use as the fiddleyard boards for BCB. Here’s the more ‘complex’ of the conversions. First job I spent to remove all the dowels.
Indomitable026
So it it’s really just a case off cutting of the bits we don’t need. First the elevated section Reduce the width And reduce the height of the side to flush with the top So it just needs a new straight side and the top fitting.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted June 30, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2018 With me that sort of butchery would result in seriously weakened boards, but I would suggest your's will be as strong if not stronger than before.

Didn’t get much further though... . Cheers

Indomitable026
What, drinking your own urine? Things can't be that bad in blighty? Mike. With the gas shortage even that’s been difficult.
Mark Saunders
With the gas shortage even that’s been difficult. It has led to more poor journalism and associated misleading headlines! Reading it there was no beer or cider in a certain chain of pubs but failed to mention it was only the keg beers as those on hand pull were not affected! Indomitable026
More ‘gardening’ this morning, well, fiddling around in the garden. As the dismantling continues I’ve taken opportunity to take stock of what reusable components we’ve got. It’s looking like I can sensibly get to 4 boards which gets me to a length of 16ft with width of 24 inches.
St. Simon
Hi, I've been looking for good model railway plans for my book, and it hit me that Black County Blues would make a perfect example of a freight line reception line. Would you guys be okay with using the track plan for BCB as an example layout? Simon
RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted July 14, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 14, 2018 Hi, I've been looking for good model railway plans for my book, and it hit me that Black County Blues would make a perfect example of a freight line reception line. Would you guys be okay with using the track plan for BCB as an example layout? Simon Help yourself.. Although the exchange sidings are over 12foot long, they are in prototypically very short. They are operationally quite limiting. We have worked out which turnouts would be controlled by the box and which ones are controlled by hand by the private sidings and therefore which sidings have main line access and which don't. we never operate the industrial shunter on the sidings at the same time as mainline locomotive. its about the industrial locomotive preparing collects and then later coming back for the drop offs . Some of them quite well-known survivors such as BMT216A and 248RPA!
Indomitable026
Good morning, it’s been a while, six months in fact. Yesterday I spent a few hours sorting the garage out and putting the frame and tilt on the trailer. This means I’m now ready to start moving the main layout over to my house. The knock on to that was today I fancied doing a bit of work on the fiddleyard boards. Of course the problem with such sporadic working is you forget where you’re at, so inevitably initially I’m trying to work this out. This is the first board, which looks nearly ready to go once I fit the top. So far, so good.
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted January 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2019 Looking good. Does the news about ready to use turnouts from EMGS/Peco give an opportunity to get the fiddle yard track down more quickly?
Indomitable026
Looking good. Does the news about ready to use turnouts from EMGS/Peco give an opportunity to get the fiddle yard track down more quickly? Hi Mark, yes of course, as previously I’d be either hand building or converting Marcway points. I’ve not followed the development too closely, when are they due and what sizes are available? Indomitable026
Board 2 is a bit more involved, it looks like a collection of components from different boards. Anyway, we’re slowly getting there ‘reassembling’ the new board. Just the end to fit now.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted January 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2019 How many boards will you need? Will the end curves also form part of the FY?
Indomitable026
How many boards will you need? Will the end curves also form part of the FY? Don’t know exactly, some burk built them in some odd size. I’ll see when I get the front boards and match to that - I think they were built to chain equivalents. The curves will be procured from Tim Horn.
Indomitable026
End now fitted. And with legs.
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted January 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2019 I’ve not followed the development too closely, when are they due and what sizes are available? Standard straight B6 left or right to begin with, £27 each. Latest update was that they would be available in Spring 2019.
