Glad you are feeling better Mike,

Kit vs RTR- I've a fair pile of kits to put together...both definitive trains are (for now) only available as kits, in the form of the Anhydrite wagons and the Conflat P's of the CONDOR.

I always figured that a train cost about $1000, (about 600 quid) including the loco.  That would make the stock on LM worth...well, a small car or so !.  I have about 8 full passenger trains of coaches in total, somewhat north of 60 Mk 1's.  I started off by getting basically random coaches, and have since gotten much further into what the proper trains should be.  I don't think I could afford to re-equip LM now, it would be a rather pricey thing to have to do.  Fortunately, I have had 15 years of buying stuff to get done...now all I have to do is _do_ it :).  Next is a lego show on the weekend- I've been building, and boxing stuff to take.  It hasn't helped that it has been cold & snowy here for 2 months or so, which is really strange.

James

Hi all,

Apologies for the delayed response to some of you as I had not noticed the page had changed....DOH!

Jeff, my other half made the larger trees from wire about 25 years ago, they just get uprooted overhauled and moved as the layouts have changed over that time, the beauty of wire based trees is that you can do this to them without any real damage, a simple coat of paint and new foliage is all it takes, mind you I have rather crushed the one near Widdale tunnel when leaning over so this needs a bit of TLC pretty soon.

Thanks Mike.

I only need a small number of largish trees for the area around KL station. The specimens I have in mind aren't too expensive. Otherwise, I might fancy having a go with some wire.

Your missus did a good job with the ones you've used on Dent.

Jeff

The loco ran pretty well but 'oh dear' those driving wheel flanges are very LIMA like in profile and do not like finescale track - well chairs really as it bumped its way through the station and rode over rather than through the points and yes I did check the B-B with a gauge.

Class 108 approaches and stops at the station, must get new destination blinds!

The 'up Waverley' booked loco must have failed and a quick change at Kingmoor to a class 5 piloted by a Compound attempts to keep to the schedule

Widdale tunnel portal hosts the unmistakable outline of a rebuilt Scot or Patriot

We now see its a Scot, 46115 'Scots Guardsman' has charge of the northbound TCE.

We most definitely like!

I particularly like all the different wagon loads - how about some more pictures of those?

Hi Sp1 , (sorry I don't know your name)

What a good idea! Make a change from general landscape shots, I'll do that over the next few days but not normally in the den now until Wednesday evening.

Excellent photos Mike got my fix for the week now cheers... Your comments about the Dapol Class 68 bumping it's way through the station reminds me of an old wag at Chester Model Railway club years ago. I took my prized and much loved Hornby / traing Princess Elizabeth to run on the club layout one night and was told 'You can't run that on the layout It'll ruin the hand built trackwork.' This was followed by a comment about bl--dy kids and course scale wheels should not be aloud in the club room. Needless to say as at the time as a youngster it put me off and I did bother going again

Hi Martin,

Oh yes the club 'faux pas' is a damaging thing, when I was about 14 yr old I too went to my local club in Glasgow (Clydeside) following a visit to their exhibition, when I told them what I had at home they encouraged me to come along one night, I loaded up a strong suitcase and proceeded half way across Glasgow on the bus and within minutes all my stock was out on the main layout and everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves.............well that is except me, when I asked to have a go on the controller I was told 'sorry your not a member!' I immediately packed my stuff and departed never to return, it took me about 30 years to put my foot in another clubhouse.

No excuses for all the likes Mike. Especially when you get right in there with the camera, it really brings the layout to life. Also the variety of trains is a real treat, the patriot on the fish empties was a winner.

How are you getting on with the goal post couplings on those down grade helix's? I tried something similar but was loosing the stock at one end of the layout.

Regards Shaun.
