davidw
Hi all, Weekend update sees a couple of jobs on the go... 2016-11-12 09.17.34.jpg 2016-11-12 09.17.45.jpg New arrival in the form of D5182 is undergoing detailing and will be weathered before entering the roster pool. 2016-11-12 12.13.23.jpg Not too long ago I part converted A3 60062 'MINOROU' into 60092 'FAIRWAY' however one problem remained MINOROU has a single chimney! After searching I found 'Chris Parrish' in Grosmont had one which arrived last week and today I attacked the single chimney with a cutting disc and craft knife. 2016-11-12 12.13.32.jpg 2016-11-12 14.19.47.jpg 2016-11-12 14.20.10.jpg 2016-11-12 14.20.20.jpg 2016-11-12 14.21.27.jpg 2016-11-12 14.21.38.jpg 2016-11-12 14.21.51.jpg The chimney supplied looked too tall and wide so this was doctored 'gently' to look more in keeping. It was at least 1mm higher than the cab roof and the base was filed to rectify! It still looks a bit large in bare white metal but as the next stage is the paint shop I think it will blend in. Playtime next! Donington Road
There is a certain Physicsman of another S&C parish who I am led to believe is rather adept at stone walling. Maybe he could help with repairs to your wall so that nice new wood could be better used for an extension of Dent Really nice batch of photo's again Mike Edited November 21, 2016 by Donington Road

Maybe he could help with repairs to your wall so that nice new wood could be better used for an extension of Dent Really nice batch of photo's again Mike Hi Mick, I'm afraid Physicsman's (Jeff) ideas on stone walling are way beyond my sanity levels so I'll stick with what I know best - timber Haha As for an extension perhaps you are privy to my dreams (scary) as only the other night I dreamt and extension did in fact lead to a model of Garsdale! Mind you I had just read the article 'Carsdale' in RMWeb before nodding off so some seeds must have been planted - now about the garden extension????!!!!

67A
You have that whole other wing to your train shed Mike; it's crying out to be filled with layout Oh yes the south wing, sadly its full of totally necessary paraphernalia! Just to correct my previous post it was not RMWeb I read about Carsdale it was of course BRM.
67A
Just seen the Hornby 2017 announcement and at last an Ivatt Duchess (45256) is among the range. My favourite of the class so will be getting one if I can skip the mortgage that month!
67A
An alternate source of A3 chimneys is Graeme King (gr.king) - resin copies of the china made a3 chimneys. I believe that 60041 towed a GNR coal rail tender. Not a high-sided Hi David, Just a message to thank you for pointing me in the direction of Graeme King, he has indeed provided me with a finer looking A3 double chimney which has now been fitted to 'FAIRWAY' which I'm sure will put in appearance at the weekend. However I'm still having no luck in sourcing a GNR tender top so plan 'B' may have to be acted on - that of changing the loco's identity, I always fancied 60100 'SPEARMINT' a Haymarket stalwart but I may have to choose a Holbeck allocated example, decisions, decisions! I see you have been drawn into the growing band of the UK's brainwashed millions, I for one do not expect to club together my 'Christmas, Birthday, Dogs Birthday, Present to self on Wife's Birthday, New Year Pressie's funds all in order to purchase just ONE new locomotive But it is a good plan

67A
Good to see you today and have a brief chat at the Manchester Show Mike, now how about some pics, hahahha. Feeling is mutual Andy, all too brief as it happens still nice to see you, George and was it Dave? Me and names, no wonder my mother wrote mine on the labels. Currently fitting C&L fishplates to the scenic section but will try to get some pic's later, I did promise 60092 earlier in the week so look out for that at least. Did you get a couple of Wickham's yesterday? You would need two to find the bleeding things £67 - £73 each - pure extortion. I never bought one item of stock just concentrated on detailing items like the fishplates etc.

67A
Hi all, Here we have a little change to start... BR blue Class 37 in Large-Logo livery graces the fells as it passes through Dentdale Yesterday four of us descended upon the Manchester show but I only photographed my all time favourite layout 'Dewsbury Midland'. if I lived closer to Manchester I would have joined Manchester MRS just to run on this masterpiece. Rumours of its last appearance this weekend sadly. Cont/...

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted December 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2016 Great stuff. Be careful with 60100 though, I have photos of her with a coal rail tender and a high one! Both with double chimney and deflectors, so the date is critical! My references are undated though....typical!

Both with double chimney and deflectors, so the date is critical! My references are undated though....typical! Hi Neil, Thanks for that however it may not matter as I have been unable to find any photos of 60100 on the S&C to date, I did not really expect to as the A3's would have more than likely been taken off at Carlisle and Haymarket or St. Margarets loco's may not have worked the 'Waverley' at all if it was a Holbeck turn as was the Thames-Clyde, I honestly don't know. To be safe I think I'll choose another one of Holbeck's stud from: 60038/69/70/72/77/80/82/88/92.
