It is very nice to see wagons loaded but I think Mike is cheating, he didn't show us the fish in their boxes inside the fish vans. :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive:

Ah Ha!!!! GOTCHA this time Clive! If you had bothered to read the description you would have noted the the fine detail: 'FISH EMPTIES' - no fish - no boxes! Hahaha :jester:  :jester:  :jester:  Whooooopppppeeeeee :jester:  :jester:  :jester:

Ah, but wouldn't the boxes that were full of fish have to go back empty of fish to be loaded again?

I'm so excited I simply can't contain myself, I've just been informed of a new arrival due for delivery on Friday .................... No, not a baby, this had a much much longer gestation period, four years to be exact! Its the Stanier Mogul 42969 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whooooooooooooopppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

My only concern now is that its taken so long it could easily arrive in BR Blue, large logo and with a TOPS No!

There was one on eBay for £159.95! Way beyond my price bracket. I shouldn't be buying locos anyhow. It's rails, point motors, cork and plywood I need!

Can't wait to see 42969 on Dent (that's if you qualify for a remortgage on your house).

Regards Shaun

Agreed, I shall certainly be putting the brakes on purchasing due to escalating costs, my only current exception will be 46256 'Sir William Stanier FRS' I have drooled over having this particular loco since I was in my pram!

That Stanier Mogul is a nice job Mike, I was DROOLING over one myself today, but having just bought the 14XX for Tewithen from a famous Ex Liverpool Store my wallet is now well and truly empty.

Hi Mike

You may have seen this clip on YouTube already. If not, it's interesting for your forthcoming purchase as it  shows Stanier Mogul 42959 on a southbound local at Hellifield in 1965.  I'm guessing it's probably come off the Morecambe branch at Settle Junction, but I stand to be corrected of course.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KnXaPN1Jl0&index=1&list=LLY0ySSU7i5uhEa-J5uxIZvA

The Mogul appears at 1:09

Best wishes

Edmund

Here is the detail pack laid out, now either I'm loosing my touch or Bachmann's tooling is a bit rough as I found fitting several items required the use of a drill to locate and or easing.

The new format booklet style instruction sheets and warranty etc. on shiny paper!!!

And now for something completely different

This was at one time my original D1 'Scafell Pike' which took a nose-dive of the baseboard at the Manchester MRX show a few years ago, the chassis got snapped plus other damage so was put away until I picked up an old Peak for a fair price and swapped the various parts, new problem now was the fact I already had another D1 as my mate John who, well shall we just say, he gave me his therefore I chose my favourite Class 44, D4 'Great Gable' ( I actually removed the nameplates for safe keeping at Toton). So the original D1 was converted to D4 with Shawplan nameplates and Modelmaster decals, I also replaced the plastic handrails with fabricated brass for more robust handling - but no nose-diving John, yes you John :nono:

So that's another two loco's to the roster, I'll need an MPD soon :jester:

Edit: Ah I can see one handrail is a bit skew-wiff

Next is a job for my mate Gary..

This Class 40 started off as 40 075 but Gary having driven 40 076 it required a renumbering, easy one would think but I found the Bachmann applied digits were about 1.8mm tall and applying a new '6' stood out like a sore thumb so the whole number had to be done, first time I have come across this.

I especially like the third and fourth, slightly oblique views in your last post, Mike.

And good to see Great Gable in her green guise. I have the model in blue livery - not quite as appealing!

Another good collection matey - keep 'em coming!!

Hi all,

No update this weekend I'm afraid, a very good friend of our little railway group passed away suddenly yesterday.

The only thing I have done since is try a few camera settings after Rich (Marsh Lane) posted some info on Andy Peters 'Kingsford' regarding settings etc. so these are the results.

The first two are on ISO 400 at f4.3

post-5296-0-26832600-1489945556_thumb.jpg

post-5296-0-08364300-1489945557_thumb.jpg

the next two are on the camera's IA setting 'intelligent auto'

post-5296-0-58348700-1489945558_thumb.jpg

the next two are on my usual camera's 'Sport' setting
