If you sit over the bogie there is a lot of noise, not a patch on what they replaced I hate them Had my first experience of travelling on them last night, only between Ipswich & Stowmarket (about 12 mins each way for those that don't know), so not really long enough to get the effects of the hard seats. My overall impression was of rapid acceleration, and really bright interior lights !! Cheers, Phil.

They do accelerate briskly especially the small ones on electric You mention another issue with modern trains , far too bright interior lighting making it virtually impossible to see anything outside the train 1

All those teething troubles with the new 745 / 755 looks like nothing compared to the rest of the network.

RusselBridge2017
Interesting little addition to our day yesterday in Cheltenham, a passenger train visit to out southbound passing loop. Think the lucky punters visited the Pontrailus wood yard too on the way to Hereford? Mind it nearly did not happen as Gloucester box seemed to route train straight on to start with. The train ground to a halt at the signal before. I guess the drive saw he did not have the feather to enter the sidings. He spent five minutes in discussions before the point changed. Guess the signalled did not understand that passengers wanted to spend 25 minutes in a sidings, LOL?
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted June 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 11, 2021 Interesting. Are locos on the national network no longer required to show their TOPS numbers as all I can see is the pre TOPS D series ones?
RMweb Premium iands Posted June 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 11, 2021 Even more surprising, than the TOPS number issue, is the 37s are still brandishing NRN 'whip' antennas 7 years after the NRN was switched off. I know virtually all units still have the roof mounted low profile antennas fitted, but their removal would be more complex and expensive.

Steam is the same, they're all on TOPS in the 98xxx series, not as their painted on number. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_98 Jo
