RMweb Gold russ p Posted July 27, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 27, 2016 Sorry Mick York yard south where the line in the picture originates. Until York was resignalled in 88 you still got an S for Scarborough if heading for York shed from York yard south even though I believe the connection for the actual Scarborough line was removed in the early 70s

R Marshall
D19, No2018, York. D19 2018 - Copy.jpg Mick, 2018 is a NER Class R (you can make out the class on the front buffer beam), later D20 62347. Only one D19 (NER 3CC) was built - 1619. I reckon you were just testing us. Stunning picture though! Regards, Roy
micknich2003
Roy, thanks for the correction. I simply copied what was on the caption of the original print, and like you, I have the books to "Cross Ref". I have been spending time "Cleaning Up" numerious York pictures, as research for my mate's, forth comming 7mm scale layout of c1937.
R Marshall
Mick, A 7mm layout of York will be something to see! And if you've got more York pictures of that quality, I look forward to them, hopefully, on here. What do you use for cleaning them up? It's rare that I can challenge a caption, but I've got pictures of a B16/2 near Northallerton - the caption says April 64, but there's too much foliage on the trees for April, I think - I reckon there are only buds in April at best. micknich2003
Roy, I use "iPicky" it's a free download. It appears to do all what "photoshop" will do, and I must admitt the "Advance" stuff is for the time being well beond me. The only downside there is not a instruction book to read, you are on your own.

R Marshall
North end of York station. Engine number and date etc are unkown. York East End.jpg Mick, I think this is a NER Class S, one of the first batch 2001 - 2010. Likely the last of that batch 2010, looking at the number plate. Another cracking shot! micknich2003
Roy, many thanks, again you have saved me looking up the details. I too suspect at least one "0" on the number plate.

R Marshall
Derailment at North end of York station, no other details. Photographer unkown. York North End Derailment 2 - Copy.jpg Mick, As you can see, this is NER Class 3CC (LNER D19) number 1619. Looks like a Z Atlantic at extreme right, so after July 1911, anyway. sir douglas
theres bound to be an accident report for it somewhere in an archive, but itll take a very log time to find it
Boris
theres bound to be an accident report for it somewhere in an archive, but itll take a very log time to find it Not necessarily, it looks to be a relatively low speed derailment so it might not have made a full BoT investigation. micknich2003
I have checked the "Web", there does not appear to be a BoT report.

micknich2003
Not East Yorkshire, but possibly time to reflect, by the date it is forty eight years, and more or less has now since British Railways ran it's last revenue steam hauled train. A much younger me ( I'm now a Great Grand Father) stood along side a LMS "5" at Carnforth 1 August 1968, I don't recolect seeing a sole, and certainly we were not "Challenged".

micknich2003
You can still see it's you Mick, you haven't changed too much Thanks Russ, I still have the same head of hair, but now grey. I put it down to good grub, riding my "Push Iron" all over East Yorkshire, and Pulling those Levers.
RMweb Gold russ p Posted August 3, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 3, 2016 I know you are lucky in keeping your hair. I've got a bit more back after chemotherapy but wouldn't recommend that as a way of hair restoration!
