No Decorum
Regardless of where they were allocated, I can see me getting a couple - one blue, one green ... provided I haven't gone bankrupt from all the other new models coming out. With exactly the same financial proviso, I'd go for green, blue and yellow. This time around, it would be nice if the lights (assuming and pleading that there will be lights) were in shunting mode i.e. a white and a red at each end. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted January 9, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2016 Another "nice to have" would be an ability to fit a driver. Heljan don't routinely do that meaning their locos appear to be driving themselves. My Hymeks are still devoid of crew for example long after all the other hydraulics were so fitted. The Clayton is a bit of a pain to break into for crew fitting but with the prominent cab their absence is very apparent. The same would be true of the 07 which is similar in overall shape to the larger class 17. Edit : OK I'm bored of "spell check" altering Heljan to Helena every time I submit a post. Surely there's a way to disable the function ..........

D5541
So apart from the 4 already mentioned (green, blue, yellow and needle orange), what other liveries did these actually carry?

You can add Blue & White to the list. Powell Dufryn Fuels had three. 07002, 07006 & 07012 which worked at Coed Bach or Cwm Mawr disposal points. 07002 at Coed Bach, Sept 1983. Paul J. Swindon 123
Did one of these go to Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen? Not as far as I know. 07002 and 07006 where scrapped at Coed Bach around 82. 07012 went to South York's preservation and then Barrow Hill. Now at Scunthorp I believe but may only be on loan. G-C-G had two 08's and a class 10 for shunters. Don't remember seeing an 07 there. Paul J.

Mr chapman
Ah balls. I was hoping it would be Bachmann who made it, then I might see an N gauge version. Oh well... enjoy boys! Looks like its kit building for me

RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted January 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2016 Splendid news, I've always had a soft spot for these. I'm not sure why but I always found them to be the most visually attractive of the shunter types, I did prefer the Class 14 but they weren't really shunters in terms of what BR built them for. Heljan have made their own market space by specialising on niche subjects and offering RTR models of prototypes that were once considered niche by kit suppliers never mind RTR producers. Personally I applaud them for this and think they've provided a great service to OO diesel modellers with this policy of concentrating on more obscure and short lived types. RMweb Gold Downendian Posted January 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2016 I'll be getting a BR blue version as I'd seen them in service. But I hope Heljan get the green right - apparently when new in SR malachite green, lined with red and white http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/81517-class-07-surely-an-rtr-arrival-soon/?p=1319975 Neil

Mike Storey
I think I can justify one - two (03 and 09) were sold to Queenborough Shipbreakers in 1976, although they were sold on quite quickly (one abroad and the other to British Sand). Butler Henderson
I don't know where they were actually working, but I have my old Ian Allan books from 1974 onwards which show the allocations of the survivors. 1974 - 07001/2/3/5/6/9/10/11/12/13 all allocated EH (Eastleigh) 1975 - as above, but during the year 07012/13 were reallocated to BM (Bournemouth) 1976 - as above, but during the year 07012/13 were reallocated back to EH 1977 - 07001/2/5/6/11/12/13 all allocated EH but withdrawn by October 1977 before the 1978 book was published here is one of my shots of 07013 (and 07011) stabled at Southmpton Docks on a weekend in February 1977 https://www.flickr.com/photos/rivercider/7047523487/in/photolist-iNUWH4-bJLpcD edit - and searching Flickr here are some views away from Southampton/Eastleigh 07002 at Poole in 1976 https://www.flickr.com/photos/actonwellsjunction/5873336926/in/photolist-9X1orL 07012 at Bournemouth in 1977 https://www.flickr.com/photos/d33206hg/5293430878/in/photolist-94LdzC-auXPAT 07013 at Bournemouth station on pilot duty in 1976 https://www.flickr.com/photos/richardboyd484/10204800225/in/photolist-gxLgzt cheers Thanks, so no wanderings from Southampton c1966. Bert Cheese
Excellent news, and a welcome return to form for Heljan as far as I'm concerned (might think differently if their proposed steam releases were SR based of course) Obviously a version of D2991/07007 would be most welcome, its good to still see it in near daily use as one of the works shunters, though I first remember in faded green alongside the Pompey line when the ERPS lads under Harry Frith were restoring S15 828 and making use of the 07 as needs be. Having said that, I'd still like to see an "open" cab and a reassurance that the motor won't instantly go up in smoke before I part with my hard earned cash this time around....
