First Loco in DB Cargo and Malcolm Livery emerges

Recommended Posts

With DB Schenker now known as DB Cargo, 90019 (ex Scotrail livery) has been painted at Toton
It's to be named at Multimodal shortly
Note the lack of 'Schenker' logos and DB logo being higher up

Nice variation , but really on a low loader!!  says it all about the railway of today :jester:

Robert

Fastest and cheapest way really, as there's no wires at Toton and it needs to go by road to get into the NEC

Indeed. Maybe we should adopt the American term "railroad". I appreciate that a lot of freight travels by road, but even the traction seems to be having a fag break in a motorway services now. Is nothing rail connected these days?

As nice as it is to see a 90 being looked after it must be a bit embarrassing for DB that the only loco they have to display there is a nearly 30year old BR design

Yep, do you think it might be something to do with the fact there are no rails (or overhead wires) into the NEC which is where the loco is going?

I think this was the loco that went past Northwick Park on the up slow on Wednesday afternoon. It was pulling a dead EWS 66 from Crewe TMD.

EDIT having taken a look at the video, it wasn't this engine

Its all in the name 'DB Cargo'.

The loco clearly displays 'DB' logos, but not the word cargo.

So what 'DB Cargo' means is 'DB' is 'cargo' for the road haulage people.

With DB Schenker now known as DB Cargo, ......

With an even bigger pedants hat on.......

DB Schenker is still called DB Schenker.

It's the rail freight division, DB Schenker Rail that is now called DB Cargo (in the UK division's case, DB Schenker Rail UK is now DB Cargo UK).

This follows the splitting of the rail freight business, from the much bigger Schenker logistics operation, which is being lined up for a possible sell off.

Even more embarrassing there's no British Rail AG rolling out say an ex-DB Baureihe 120 in Railfreight 2000 livery ;)

Hi ,

Yep no rails in NEC except when playing to the crowd - taken several engines in and enjoyed watching the Standard gauge boys unloading in hall 5 for the Warley national model railway show.

The cost is in the loading/unloading mileage costs lower and  certainly less hassle than dealing with VSTP pathing and Network Rail for works moves !

Cheers

Just out of interest when a loco goes off track (in this example into the exhibition hall at the NEC!) what does the loco's location status on TOPS or whatever they call it this week show?

So not much of a change then?

Not really,

DB Schenker (UK) rail division is now DB Cargo, as DB Schenker is for sale and DB didn't want to see its UK arm. Something lime that...

I understand 90024 has been repainted in a new "WH Malcolm" livery, I visited Toton today but presume it was locked away in the Paint shop for the weekend.
