I couldn't see any Wrens; so what are those very small creatures on the wings of the Corsair?

They're obviously not creatures. Mind you, it is Staffordshire.....

QTR001 approaching 27R at Heathrow, Sept 2nd 2017, flown by...you guessed it...me!

Airbus A350-900, A7-ALG.

'Plane pitch about right, wings level(ish), gear down and flaps at landing config...you'd almost think that I know what I'm doing.

These were taken on a trip around the Docklands Light Railway with two grandchildren. Southern's child £2 flat fare can include a London Travelcard, if the accompanying adult has one. So a trip to London, from the south coast, and a day around the DLR area comes in at under £20, with a Senior railcard.

I should come to Wheeltappers more often, threads on AFVs and Aircraft, no doubt get told off by SWMBO for spending more time trawling through old pics :D

Here's my take on "Apocalypse Now", an early morning troop move lifts off from Kandahar Airbase in Afghanistan, circa 2004

Chinooks, Black Hawks and Apaches and one other which i cant remember the type (in no particular order)

Wrecks & Relics - Soviet era aircraft & Afghanistan Air Force aircraft.

If anybody can ID the make / model of these aircraft, it would be appreciated? I wasn't getting any closer to some of these, at the time Afghanistan was probably the most landmined country in the world, the majority being left over from the soviet occupation.

A MIG of some description, Mazar-i-Sharif (IIRC), Afghanistan.

Unidentified, again at Mazar-i-Sharif

Your first photo is a MiG-21

Next is a Su-25/27

The biplanes are An-2 (still the largest single engined biplane)

I'm intrigued by the Twinjet which looks to have had a second cockpit added (is it a trainer version)

I cannot help on the helicopters apart from various Hind / Mi8 versions.

Soviet military aircraft were always distinctive.

Edited for sloppy spelling. (Again)

This will turn heads when it flies. Side on reminds me of TSR 2.

A quick check of the date! No it isn't April 1st :) Why two cockpits? How do the crew/ passengers move between fuselages? Crawling through a wingspace? What happened to the image 2 near wing leading edge? Check the date again!

Oh and how do they syncronise the two tractors to prevent wing warp? How many runways can accommodate this plane? How come the nearest tractor shows the plane BEHIND the driver's head so if he drives straight ahead he would have to duck? !

Check the date a third time!

I believe the Port cockpit is empty, there are no passengers carried, its called the Stratolauncher and is designed to carry satellites into orbit. Its powered by 6 jumbo jet engines, weighs 250 tonnes and should fly in 2019.

Hi Paperlad,

Like the shots of the Qatar A350, will these be used on the new service into Cardiff Wales next year, are you likely to be involved in these flights?

Hello Ian,

I'm glad you liked the pics.

Cardiff is planned for the 787 so, unfortunately, I won't be involved, however, things do change (very rapidly) in QR. Also I'm planning to take early retirement around March '18 and as the route doesn't begin until May, it's even less likely that I'll be involved. Never say never tho!

As an add on, I did do 18 months based at Cardiff back in the early '90's with Manx/BRAL, flying the J41...very happy days.

PL.

A DH Single Otter about to "land" whilst a Beaver taxis out - Harbour AIr in Vancouver.

This DHC-2 Beaver was ours, along with two other passengers.

The safety briefing was on an Ipad.
