@Patriot87003I'd forgotten 87101 was still "live" by 1997.  Do you have any other photos from that CE Open Weekend, especially any around the "Old Ladies" (81/82/83/85)?  You might see the founder members of the AC Loco Group meeting informally for the first time, viewing our new purchases.....

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of the ‘old ladies’ at that open day (I wish I had a time machine sometimes … and with a better camera!)  … the only other AC loco pics I took during that event were;

I did capture 82002 at the Crewe works open day during 10th September 2005

Along with 83012 at the same event …

Also 84001 …

Also 85101, with 89001 lurking behind!67AB6CFD-D4B5-4407-AF0F-9EDB2B15A488.jpeg.2615a77f07eabb71c339e590518c4613.jpeg

I keep umming and ahhing about buying the Bachmann rail freight class 85. I know the beasts never ran in that colour but the era region and class are otherwise right for my layout. What stops me is the annoying nameplate on it!

I brought one because I was part of the team that painted the original and had previously finished a kitbashed 85 in RfD, but I'd swap my Bachmann one for 90128...

The nameplate will come off with care if you didn't want it as for any numbers/nameplates

Is it printed or an etched item do you know? I haven’t seen one in the flesh. It’s all that “2005” nonsense that makes it unusable even as a might have been.

Printed, with etched plates and arrows in the box.

Ah okay. In theory removable if it’s printed then. What technique do folks advise to remove printed plates or numbers etc?

I don’t know why they couldn’t leave it blank and let the buyer choose whether to glue plates on or not….

Probably because of every 10 sold, 8 wouldn't bother fitting the plates, one would be fitted successfully and the remaining one would be returned to Bachmann for repair because the buyer had managed to cover half the locomotive with glue.

Yes - just past Grand Jn with the exchange sidings in the foreground.  Taken from a train heading towards St.Andrews Jn perhaps?

Not my photo, but a newsworthy capture of 84001 on Flickr, at York on the final leg of it's move back to the NRM.

47245 seems to be WCRC's loco of choice for AC moves, a few years ago it was used to drag the 86 and 87 back to Willesden for maintenance when on hire for ice breaking runs, and on another occasion ran hundreds of miles light engine to move 86101 from Willesden to Wembley...

That'll probably never see the light of day again
