slg
Tornado to haul timetabled services between Skipton and Appleby next month according to Rail Magazines website.
Wild Boar Fell
Wow, the cascade plans really have gone to pot...
RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted January 13, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2017 Sadly the two trains mentioned do not appear in the timetable!
Mark Saunders
Would this coincide with repair work being completed and line reopened?
RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted January 13, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2017 Would this coincide with repair work being completed and line reopened? Timetable still showing buses between Appleby and Carlisle so it appears it is before the reopening.
Mike at C&M
Re-opening of the Carlisle - Appleby section is scheduled for the end of March. Project appears to be running to time.
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2017 Flying Scotsman is scheduled to run a re-opening special from Oxenhope to Carlisle and back on 31st March. Nothing shown on the Tornado website until it is doing Doncaster - Carlisle - Newcastle on 29th April

If the definite article had been included in the sentence then 'I love the S&C' might have been rather more relevant to the subject. Interesting too that either '(B)Rail'/liaR has jumped the gun or the whole thing has yet to be agreed with the other parties, wouldn't the first time that's happened (sometimes resulting in things not happening). As an ex-P/W engineer from 1989/90 it always amuses me the way people reference the S&C. While S&C is more interesting than plain line, if you get to about noon on a Sunday still trying to get a crossover in which you started at 9pm on Saturday (due to the way it was fabricated of course) you really start to loathe S&C and Castleton works in particular! locoholic
Tender-first running, or top-and-tail with ? , I wonder?
Christopher125
Tender-first running, or top-and-tail with ? , I wonder? A DBC 67 more than likely, not just to top and tail but provide ETH.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15, 2017 I wonder if we'll be allowed out from our offices 20 yards from the line to watch it? (There are no windows on the railway side.....) Cheers, Mick

cal.n
I think the irony here is that Tornado is a lot newer that the Northern DMUs it will be replacing...
cal.n
Draft timings released http://www.railmagazine.com/news/network/exclusive-draft-times-released-for-tornado-s-sandc-service-trains I'll try to get to see the evening train Any idea where the loco will be based, I assume Carnforth? Or a loop at Hellifield if it's only three days?
Paul.Uni
Certainly won't be Carnforth. I believe that there is more chance of Pigs flying before A1ST & WCRC working together

Cheers, Mick As the trains it is working start from Appleby in the morning and finish there at night that seems to be the logical answer.
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted January 24, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 24, 2017 The 'S&C' website is now publishing the same times as of yesterday so presumably they think it's enough of a go-er to tell Joe Public http://www.settle-carlisle.co.uk/tornado-on-the-sc/ Edit: Forgot to add, nothing in RTT yet

RMweb Premium ColinK Posted January 24, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2017 There is turntable at each end, so presumably it will be tender first in one direction unless Peco can quickly produce a 12" to the foot loco lift.
