Butler Henderson
Thanks Ditto - had my eye on a test run only Bachmann Crab for £28 less than Hattons Sale of the Century and was waiting for ebay to cough up the £15 worth of vouchers they owe me but than £7.10 back on it whilst it is still available tipped the balance. NB it says 5% for me not 5.05%. Edited November 4, 2018 by Butler Henderson

jukebox
So my parcel has arrived safely from Hattons - 8 days to Australia, and that was tracked and recorded delivery, a good effort from Royal Mail. As to the A3? Well it's not 100% perfect, but the deformation is a lot less prominent than I'd feared: and from the other side: (you can click on those images for very large versions to look up close) The kick seems to come from forward of the cylinder centre, while the cab is only poorly fitting on the right hand side - and even then, not distractingly so. In all honesty, for £59, I'm happy. Cheers Scott
RMweb Premium Silver Sidelines Posted November 9, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) Thank you for posting the pictures. Good service from Hattons. At £59.00 it is probably good value, When I was trying to buy in 2016 the price I think was around the £100. stonesboy
Not sure if a bargain or not but the Hornby “Urban Rambler” set is being sold in Lidl for £49.99 from the 15th for a week. Also some Airfix and Scalextric.

Also some Airfix and Scalextric. I would say that is one of Hornby's worst train sets ever, certainly not worth £49.99 of my money. The Airfix kits are a good price though. The Airfix kits are a good price though. Bog standard "cheap" offering they throw out each year for retailers, if its not on sale or return will be interesting to see how much Lidl drop the price by on any unsold stock. By comparison the same thing in Argos is an eye watering £25 more albeit the loco is in its correct livery (well as much the loco bears a resemblance to what its supposed to) https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8497787

RMweb Gold Garry D100 Posted November 11, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2018 And some of the sets at Argos are on 3 for 2 so may work out a bargain depending what you want and for who :-) https://www.argos.co.uk/search/Hornby/
Guest
Beaten to it by Jason, above. That is exactly the point. £49.99 is an affordable gift for little Johnnie (insert other names). If he goes off trains and gets into Xbox, no great loss, but he may be bitten by the bug and be signing up for RMWeb membership in a few years. None of those Hornby starter sets are intended for us lot, are they?

I wouldn't wish that on little Johnnie, I'd rather he enjoyed the hobby!! Mike.
