Now if the new out of the box models looked like that, they'd be well worth the price!

Fat chance of that Wolfy. You know they'd add another 30 quid on them if they did.

Regards Lez.

I didn’t need to worry about the colour because you can hardly see it

That looks great - the close coupling really makes it too.

A cameo with a part fill of coal & shovel? (workers on a teabreak either absent or on scene?)  Not quite sure how to make it work with 2 since probably the LH wagon would be wanted & filled first, but it’s further from the drops.
or both  just empty & waiting to be filled?

 Looking good either way

Some great painting and weathering, Chuffers. They could be metal models and not plastic. Can I suggest you do a step-by-step phot "How to do it" when you next do a model for those of us who struggle a bit! Thanks!

I’ve used a little Das clay to blend the wing wall and flooring in the embankment but I didn’t want to get clay all over the stonework….

…..a little unorthodox maybe….

…..but it works…

….once covered in scenic material I’m hoping it will look okay?

I’ve been playing with the das clay again, filling in the gaps

I’d never thought of using das clay to fill gaps, I usually use a ready mixed filler but I usually get everywhere but where I need it

I don't blame you, I find that if I want to fill a small area, I can't use the ready mixed stuff. Much better to make up a stiff mix from powder and add plenty of PVA. I have been lazy and used car filler, leftover from finishing bike parts.

Once it's been open for a few weeks I won't risk it on vehicles, but it's fine for layout purposes.

There's normally a 'cess' between the edge of the ballast and any fencing, foliage etc, to allow space for staff to walk. In those days, most likely ash.

I’m looking at grassing the left hand side soon, would it be correct to have the ash ‘path’ from the edge of the ballast up to the edge of the coping stones of the retaining wall?

I imagine there would be little or no foliage in that area due to the ash because I’m sure I’ve been told that not a lot grows where there is ash

Apologies for the weird camera angle, only way I could take a photo without revealing the amount of mess made on the floor 😆

Used fine basing sand for the toe path, I’ve probably done it too neat and tidy though 🙄

Glue still drying, hence the wet white patches

oh and I decided to paint the tops of the mooring bollards white

I like the weeds, what did you use for those Chris?

it’s a foam scatter from geek gaming

I just sprinkled a little on the static grass while the glue was still wet
