Did anyone mention to you over the weekend, that those HEAs looked phenomenal? 😀

And you did amazing work Friday and Saturday to get the end-board running in both directions, even if not 100%, you made sure trains ran....

...when outside on Saturday none did

es grüßt wie immer ganz herzlich

All credit should really go to the dedicated  team of operators who were all magnificent,  operating the layout and conversing with the visitors

Shirebrook Road trips 2023

Hi, I haven't been doing any photogenic jobs on the layout, Just mundane but essential maintenance. The major one has been to increase the capacitance to aid poistive operation of the turnouts. I have also replaced failed components.

I only take the layout to a limited number of shows, and next year's diary is now complete. Subject to final confirmation please look out for Shirebrook at the DEMU showcase event at Sutton Coalfield in June and Barnsley in November 2023.

I will post again on this thread if there are any changes....

cheers

Duncan

Hi John

Well for 61 summers I've been calling it Coalfield,  my apologies to the good residents of  Coldfield.  Never to late to learn!

Don't worry you're not the first and certainly won't be the last!  It's one of those names where one letter (the "d") becomes almost silent so you write it like you hear it.  Guildford is the same and the "l" in Chelmsford is also unheard in most speech.

Damn, I've always put the 'l' in Chelmsford. The letter 'w' is superfluous in most wick, wark and wells.

But down here in MK we have Loughton, Broughton and Woughton. One is 'out' one is 'ort' and the other 'ooft'....

Place names are a mindfield!

Hi,

Shirebrook  will be at the DEMU  Showcase 2023 event in Sutton Coldfield June 17 and 18.

There have been some exciting developments  onthe layout  but I won't be posting them on here until  after the show, as the operating  team would really like you to come along and see the layout in the flesh.

The layout is dc operation, if you would like to run your loco on the layout please bring ONE along  and we will give it a spin.

Below are some views inside the depot building

Just checking Duncan is this Sutton Coldfield in the UK or down under .. you appear to have gone Australian on us!!!  Looking forward to hearing what you've bene up to - tied up for the 17th/18th so can't make the exhibition, but hope you all have a great time.

I’ve also got the upside down issue so (and hopefully Duncan won’t mind) I’ve taken the liberty of turning them over as they look rather good:

The 58 under the lights in the shed looks amazing.

Thanks for sorting that out for me, I uploaded  the post on my phone and couldn't  work out how to correct the photos.

Hi,

These photos will give you a clue to the developments at Shirebrook. I will neither confirm or deny any comments you make until after the DEMU  Showcase event on 17thand 18th June at Sutton Coldfield. Please do try to come along and support the event, it will be great to see you.

The photos were taken during maintenance to make the layout ready for the show.

No sorry, I will have to photograph with a spirit level on the tracks! Have you noticed the changes since you operated the layout at Wigan last year?
