THIN LIZZY - "Fighting" - their 1975 opus. It feels the perfect soundtrack to the exercise of perfecting optimizing the location of a very ruff'n'ready bar near to the station, after an outbreak of scenic inspiration :icon_idea:

Blur - This is a Low.

Lovely song with a bit of a nautical feel and apparently inspired by the shipping forecast.

How wonderfully British! :)

Golly gosh, I was also listening to this one this week - first time in years. I was a bit underwhelmed with Park Life

when it came out but it's starting to look like some kind of classic album, very much a snapshot of the times. And This

is a Low is indeed lovely...

Karnataka at The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday night - in a word, Progtastic!

And on the way back from the gig, "Rebuild the Wall" by Luther Wright and the Wrongs. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" done bluegrass style. The combination of C&W-style vocals and Roger Waters' lyrics is just surreal.

Cured my immense irritation with 'popular' radio breakfast shows* in the car today by rediscovering Radio 4.

*Where do they get those people (R1, R2, Clyde, etc) and why inflict them on me first thing in the morning when I'm at my least tolerant?

Fishing on a pond, in brilliant sunshine, under a flight path with no planes, listening to Vapour Trails ( no pun ) by Rush, Time machine and Valhalla albums by Stray on my i-pod. Would have been Purrrfect except no railway line in sight.

For interest then I heard an announcement yesterday that the full back catalogue of Melvyn Bragg's "In Our Time" is available online

www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/in-our-time/archive/

That'll keep me going for a few years then!

What I'm listening to : currently catching up on the Radcliffe & Maconie Show on iPlayer - Stuart Maconie stuck in Venice and ringing in!
