The issues of errors on the part of the manufactures - some more than others; and the ease of remedying them by the purchaser, are not mutually exclusive.

 

The former should not happen - but do; the latter depends upon whether one is a box-opener or a modeller.

 

I have remedied errors on numerous models over the past sixty years - I shouldn't have had to do it, but I didn't regard the task as a "tedious faff".

Depending on how the lining has been applied it may be simple to remove that on the fenders, some models are easily removed of lining and lettering using enamel thinners.

Anyone know where to source a spare smokebox door from for these models? Nothing on the Dapol website, dcc supplies or peter's spares

 

It isn't a replacement but for a build project so could I get away with a Mogul door?

I engaged brain this afternoon and offered the smoke box door from a mogul upto a manor and they are both the same. Better to be safe than sorry!
