Dapol have form for silly errors - GWR smokebox doors with BR numberplates? CJI. Given that at least one (non-Dapol?) photo of a production batch model has been posted in this thread prior to that, one is left to wonder what, or if, QC inspections took place prior to distribution. The issues of errors on the part of the manufactures - some more than others; and the ease of remedying them by the purchaser, are not mutually exclusive. The former should not happen - but do; the latter depends upon whether one is a box-opener or a modeller. I have remedied errors on numerous models over the past sixty years - I shouldn't have had to do it, but I didn't regard the task as a "tedious faff". Butler Henderson
Depending on how the lining has been applied it may be simple to remove that on the fenders, some models are easily removed of lining and lettering using enamel thinners.
