Bartlow Station 1974 by Blue-pelican-railway

Bartlow station, 1974 (5)

Inspiring? Well, I suppose in an odd sort of way, it could be. Sad more than anything.

And another from Roger Joanes - the old Plymouth Millbay terminus in use as a carriage depot.

Plymouth Millbay. The former station. 10.4.68

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel (visible on the left) is still there, but the rest of the view is completely different

Also the Shrewsbury Foregate station itself intrigued me and I've some pictures of it and wow would it make for an interesting layout. I can't think of many stations that have an Abbey right next to it. I'm surprised that it has never inspired an Rev Awdry story where Thomas smashes into the Abbey interrupting a wedding or christening!

09/1958 - Abbey Foregate (S&MLR), Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Wasn't that the special one where Daisy & Dirty Diesel were, err, getting hitched, and Thomas crashed in, shouting "It should have been me!"

If I've ever given any thought to it at all, I guess I've supposed that Algeco's business was Algerian oil, but it seems it's never had anything to do with Algeria. The name comes from "Alliance de Gestion Commerciale" and its logo is "timeless and iconic" according to: https://www.grapheine.com/en/logo-news/algeco-logo-iconic-timeless-brand-identities

Algeco leased rolling stock, possibly only tanks - not sure. The rolling stock business was taken over by VTG in the early 2000s according to https://www.vtg.com/about-vtg/history but the company name lives on as part of modular buildings operator Modulaire Group
