I was concerned that making the loco prototypical would hinder traction, however if the non driven wheels wheels are lightly sprung then they wouldn't be carrying much weight anyway and therefore there would be about as much traction from 4 axles as if there were 6 driven.

Given the bogie centre wheels on a real 31 are a different diameter to the outer 4, you would struggle to power all six. Gearing that would be tricky.

Counting teeth on gears is not tricky!

..but us modellers are a fickle bunch - If the prototype is A1A A1A then that's what we want, even if the performance wont be as good or we can't see what is actually powered - it's the "thought" that niggles at us.

Kev.

(Me? I'm not too bothered - as long as it is not tender-driven or has traction tyres!)

That should make a great April fools advert.

Does that mean they're arriving about the same time as the 66's?

There was mention on that thread there would be a few more weeks before they arrived.

Thanks,

Al.

The Class 66 was due to arrive 'end of Q1' aka late March, but is now delayed, arriving in another 6 weeks' time.

The 31 'batch 1' was due to arrive after the 66, but with the 66 delayed until nearly mid Q2, is the 31 B1 similarly delayed, or will it even be in the same container - it was slated for Q2, and still mentioned as such on the A/S website.

Thanks,

Al.

Seems like they are indeed to be delivered Q2 2024.

It does appear that despite the huge amount of 'new activity' (new / pending models) A/S are keeping their website live and relevant!

So many I find update once, then leave it!

Thank you Fran, McC and the hugely enthusiastic group at A/S !!

Well all they’ve done is take out the Q1 from the website from what I can see. Has it says Q2,Q3 now,it could be anytime between today and end of September. Which is 6 months. Someone from Accurascale did say watch out for an update about the 31s at the end of this week. can’t remember if it was on one of the topics on this site or FB. But nothing has been mentioned from what I can find.
Could get interesting by the end of the month if the 31s are not on a big boat by then or beginning of may. Has the Bachmann ones will be in the race to see who’s arrive first.

Accurascale have said on several occasions that they use more than one factory, so a delay to one model does not necessarily impact delivery of another. Have they said the 66 and 31 are being manufactured in the same factory?

I Never said they did, what I said was simple facts. The website said Q1/Q2/Q3, they have since removed Q1. Leaving a six month time frame. Now for whatever reason they originally started 3 quarters it doesn’t matter and would still be on time even if it turns up in September. So there’s no reason to say anything unless the delivery doesn’t meet their deadline.
