Popular Post Shedmaster
Hi All, Good Evening! I had a bit of a surprise today, when this white Transit type van turns up at the Stewart’s Lane main gate, with three hefty fellas inside, wanting to come in and have a look around! “Yeah RIGHT!” says I, be on yer way……. ….but one of them just winked at Me and said in a real soft accent that I couldn’t quite place, “If Irish Eyes be smilin, There might be sumtin innit for ya”. Well, being easily led I of course let them in…they seemed nice enough…🙄 They insisted on parking INSIDE the main shed as apparently they had a load of gear on them, tape measures, cameras etc…as they were from a prominent model manufacturing outfit. They took a lot of interest in our demic Pullman cars, ‘MONA’ seemed to captivate them and I thought I overheard them complaining about how nothing available on the market at the moment is painted properly and even worse, how there is nothing that represents the VSOE Pullman Land Cruise train AT ALL, let alone PROPERLY MODELLED? The Pullman Umber and Cream are way too dark and there is nothing available that represents Pullmans on the network today to a standard that the modern image modeller deserves? Well, I thought that’s what I heard…. The three lads then found our Mk3 Pullman SLEP ‘LEVIATHAN’ outside during a shunting’ move, and I thought I heard one of them say how the paint job was absolutely spot on with the correct highly glossy finish on this one. He sadly went on to say what a shame the vehicle was riddled with faults with its overall dimensions, carried over from its parentage and how a new model is very much needed and would be so much better if THEY did it! As I earwigged, they caught me and moved onto something else on site… …back inside to ‘MONA’ to get a paint sample perhaps? Nope! Our EWS ‘QSA’ Barrier Coach set had caught their eye……and they seemed really excited about these! I explained how nice I thought it would be for a manufacturer to release a modern image EMU type model such as the Class 377 ‘Electrostar’ family, with a pair of these in the range for delivery drags to and from works etc, but hey, just an opinion… Then, to really confuse me, they start measuring up this 47. Dunno what that was about, maybe they suspect the definitive model still hasn’t quite been achieved yet? I did make sure they knew all about the Con-Rail and it’s dangers, although isolated, but to be fair, their behaviour and knowledge was second to none! When the shunting had been done and the shed doors had been closed, they then had a good measure up of the BUILDING, I kid you not! Maybe when they’ve finished storming the market with perfect RTR models of Locos etc, they might consider RTP buildings to the same standard of excellence? Now THAT would be a game changer, no more wonky resin castings eh? when they’d finished their work, we exchanged pleasantries and just as silently as they’d arrived, they were gone without trace! Its been a funny old day…..I hope they managed to take away something ‘useful’ from their visit, maybe one day we might find out eh? Kindest Regards, Shed. 9 1 4
Shedmaster
Hi All, Just a quick one before I go to bed….🤭 Those lads I saw earlier today…measuring up whatever they set their eyes on… Well, I think they’ve been here before…..some years back… Its the same lads ain’t it? Back then it was some manky old ‘Deltic’ engine they were interested in, wanted to know if there was a decent model of it or not… I think Irish eyes are smiling on ALL of us modellers these days, We’ve never had it so GOOD! Thankyou Accurascale…… Kindest Regards, Shed.
Michael Hodgson
To be sure they wouldn't be Irish without the help of the little people. Don't let on, but they keep their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I would be ordering a set, but unfortunately they're all modern image and wearing hi-vis. But I don't want Orangemen - so I'm waiting for Accurascale to do them in green.

Wheatley
Seem to recall that the reason Star Wars action figures didn't look exactly like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher et al was so they couldn't claim royalties on the merchandise sales. RMweb Premium cessna152towser Posted December 16, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 16, 2022 Long extinct from Network Rail tracks, the Lord Westwood class locomotive was inspired by the designs of the Great Western Railway. The Accurascale Research Team paid a visit to a heritage railway near the Anglo-Scottish border to survey a preserved example with a view to producing a scale model.
