RMweb Gold kipford Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2023 John Hepton Wharf as you saw it yesterday is exactly as we picked it up from Don Leepers garage in March after 13 years storage. All we have done to it is clean it, repair some errant track and cassette joints, service the rolling stock and change the couplings to Dinghams. Because it is such an iconic layout the plan is to conserve it in its current state, however for operational reasons the uncoupler permanent magnets will be replaced with electro-magnets and we may change the lighting rig to LED strips. 7 1 3

chipbury
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, both to Larkrail & the bookshop, an enjoyable well organised event. I was particularly taken by the Hunslet works model and look forward to seeing it progress in the future. I even made it home without falling off my bike which was an added bonus...
RMweb Gold Popular Post queensquare Posted July 16, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Well, what a fantastic day. Many thanks to everyone who was involved. It’s very much a team effort so thanks to the exhibitors, traders, kitchen team, and all those who both supplied and bought cake - such is their generosity that many who baked and supplied such wonderful home made treats then proceeded to buy them back - marvellous!! I’ve not done the final figures yet but suffice to say, the charity donation will exceed last years. I didn’t take many pictures, too busy gassing, but here are a couple; The fantastic kitchen team of Edna Greenwood, Paula Martin, Kim Clifford and Yvonne Simpson with a couple of bottles of well earned wind- down juice! Dave, who also gave sterling service, had already slipped away. Laurie Griffin and Adrian Colenutt who shared duties with moi on the door. Adrian also recorded the event on his trusty camera so more pictures will appear in the coming days. Finally, a quick snap of the show in full flow with lots of tea drinking, chatting and fantastic modelling. The hall is already booked for July 13 2024 so put it in your diary, Jerry 17
RMweb Gold Not Jeremy Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2023 A really great day as Jerry says, and thank you also from me to everyone who came along to the show, it is all of you who make the show what it is. But especially to Kim, Paula, Edna and Yvonne (not to forget flying Dave) in the kitchen, who worked so hard and were so very cheerful. Just the best. I had promised not to post any more silly photographs, but when Steve and I returned to the hall from the Shoffice towards the end of the clear up, we couldn't help but feel we'd wandered in to some sort of opening scene, I give you Messrs. Simpson Clifford and Griffin in Sergio Leone's little known "Once upon a time in the East" (of Bath) Simon 10

RMweb Gold queensquare Posted July 17, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 17, 2023 Adrian's pictures have now arrived. I've only had time for a quick flick through but here are a few I picked out - more over the coming days. Richard Phipp both full size and in miniature Callum, Gordon and Maggie, quit obviously enjoying themselves. Hopefully Callum's record of the show will be along at some point. Gorgeous Kim, scrummy cakes and the team busy making sandwiches - the heart of the show! There's no way all the chatting could be sustained without vital sustanence! Another man obviously enjoying himself, Richard Barton with his delightful S scale Arcadia, ... and finally, for now, my old mate Paul Stephens giving Hepton Wharf a thorough looking at Jerry

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted July 17, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2023 Thank you all for posting the photies, as attendance from this rock in a bumpy sea would be rather too much for my pension to bear. I would dearly love to have seen everything, especially Iain Rice's legacy as he has always been a great influence on my modelling. Well done to all the organisers, exhibitors,, cakey suppliers and attendees. 3 1 1
RMweb Premium DLT Posted July 18, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2023 My thanks to everyone involved with Larkrail, first time I've been, and very glad that I did. A superb show. Sorry for boring everyone with my stories of motorway hold-ups, and tales of Iain Rice from before he was famous! Cheers, Dave,

RMweb Premium Northroader Posted July 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2023 Thanks for making the video and posting it, Callum, it was beautifully made for showing the layouts. I should really have gone, but it gives me an enjoyable session for seeing what was there.

Andrew Young
What a superb array of layouts. Bath is just about doable as a day trip on the train for here and will hopefully attend Larkrail one year, alas this year’s date conflicted with our summer fortnight in Wales. One benefit of daughter starting school in September is that early July will free up a little from next year. 1

So in advance of next year's show, here is a foretaste of what he is up to, man at a gate looking out for an AC Cars railbus... How's about that for forward planning!! Simon I am still overwhelmed every time someone says my book has inspired them to build a layout, of any description. I can’t wait to see this one develop, AC Railbus sounds super!
