The next diesel/electric loco from accurascale?

Recommended Posts

Surely the class 58 is the diesel most in need of bringing up to date?

The Hornby one is positively ancient and the Heljan one? I had a couple and they were quite poor, they wouldn’t pull for toffee and the detailing is crude at best. Barely equal to the final Lima models in my opinion.

Someone had a unique idea to create a wishlist.

😱

"The next wishlist topic in the Accurascale subforum" where people post requests for wishlist topics to be started on coaches, wagons, flavours of peanuts, bathroom furniture and gardening equipment...

Class 42 Swindon warship is an ideal candidate for Accurascale…. 7 liveries, at least 5 body shell variants and worked alongside the Manor

What could be better?

More than seven liveries when you take into account the different number / logo positioning on several of the class...! 😉

The TP and AM10 were totally different body shells and ends. TP were Mk1 based, AM10 mk2 based with no separate chassis/underframe.

Sorry to disappoint you all the Swindon DMUs had more in common with Mk2 stock than Mk1. They had a a GWR style profile and the windows were shallower than a Mk1s. They too had no chassis but were integral construction.

Something from the various types of Swindon DMUs would be nice. Or a Gloucester 2 car, a Park Royal or even a Wickhams.........as for a locomotive what about a LMS jackshaft drive Jocko?

A few shunters that need doing:

Class 06

Class 01

NBL DH 0-4-0 D2900 series D2911 is preserved.

Barclay DH 0-6-0 D2400 series

The only preserved BR NBLs are D2767 and D2774 which would be a test for anyone to do due to their small size.

I've built a few 'small' 0-4-0 diesels from kits, and they are surprisingly easy to motorise compared to much large steam locos. There's a lot of room in the bonnet for a motor.

Let's hope it's not more duplication most type already done are available to a high standard, making MUs is better choice but the cost of 3 or 4 car units has become so excessive that it has issues as well?

We have become used to several new models from each manufacturer every year. If the numbers of new models was reduced, perhaps the cost of 3 or 4 car units won't be such an issue as they will not have to compete for funds with other new models...
