RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 Evening awl, 31 minutes ago, polybear said: Apparently it all depends on how close you are to your renewal date as to what price you are quoted by other insurers: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/07/revealed-the-best-day-to-buy-car-insurance-to-slash-costs-by-100s/ - three weeks is the magic time to search for a quote it seems. They can also vary the price depending on time of day, how many policies they've sold, when they last had a decent cr@p.... I arranged insurance on a friend's replacement car (from Toyota Starlet to Aygo - the latter being a Group One) - her insurance company wanted a bl00dy great increase in premium, which I duly queried. Smart-arse Numpty on the phone said "Ah yes, it's because Aygo's are very cheap to run and therefore popular with young drivers, who have more accidents, hence the price increase". To which I replied: " But you're Saga Insurance - you don't insure anyone under 50....." He went, very very quiet at that point, strangely. They didn't manage to sell a premium to my friend. Technically Saga don't insure anyone, they are an insurance broker not an insurance company. Assistance from Ben at an excavation or digging involves a ball being deposited in the hole, so you have to pick it up and throw it out of the way.. After an afternoon of semi to full dozing, later, 1. 25 hours were spent carving 4 cross beams each less than an inch long to shape from 2mm round rod. Though not perfect, when painted and viewed from 450 scale feet they'll look OK. 8 more to do unless I decide the back needs doing as well so that would mean 12.. 15

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 Evening all, An afternoon of path-edging and weeding occurred followed by admiration of the work just undertaken whilst celebrating beer o'clock in the garden chairs with (in my case) an almost-pint from a bottle of Doom Bar and some "Artisan Crisps". I might now know what a deep-fried artisan tastes like. Lamb kofte kebabs were enjoyed with a home-made (and partially home-grown) salad for dinner following a busy day of receiving deliveries plus cleaning, de-icing and tidying the fridge and the occasional chat with Neighbours, Various who were out enjoying the afternoon sun. Today's addition to the 10 albums is Billie Holiday's "Lady Sings The Blues". I could listen to this for many more hours than it plays for. I reckon you can taste the smoke and atmosphere of a late-night club through the music.
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) I'll say goodnight awl. The fang mender was visited and two replacement fillings fitted in 20 minutes, no pain at all. Nice chicken curry for tea and there were some strawberries that needed finishing, fortunately there was some cream to go with them. More importantly, Kiki Dee is still with me as an ear worm, long may it last. Jamie Edited May 16, 2020 by jamie92208 23 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not much ancient stuff has come out of my current garden except for 7d in pre decimal coinage, 4d of that was the current monarch and the oldest was her grandfathers reign. Not surprising as the house was built c. 1960 on a greenfield site. When I lived in Romford the house was of similar age but on the same site there had been two or three previous houses. Also at the bottom of the garden was Romford signal box and where the garden was only a few years after the line was built a map from 1851 shows some flooded pits either side of the embankment. These subsequently were filled in with Victorian rubbish. As a result I often dug up odd bits of broken china and plenty of Victorian bottles. I went down to Tess Coes this afternoon as I needed some milk, I noticed that petrol is now 99.99p per litre, I'm going to need topping up soon so I'll fill up next time I go there.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Chris116 Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 I used to drive from Basildon to Coventry and Long Eaton for F1 Stock Car meetings. I had two cassette tapes in the car. One with Country music and the other with Pink Floyd and others. It was very noticeable that I the journey was a lot shorter timewise when Pink Floyd and co were performing! 17 1

Popular Post Erichill16
Sorry chaps but haven’t had time to read all your reports so hope everyone is keeping on top of things. One of those days when you’re kept busy but at the end of the day nothing seems to have been achieved. On a positive note I’ve ordered a motor/gearbox combination for a model I’m hoping to refurbish. Falling asleep as I type so will bid everyone goodnight. Robert 7 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted May 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Good evening everyone As I’d hoped for this morning, I managed to finish building the arbour. In the photo below, the eagle eyed will notice a few gaps in the cladding, these have been cut to size, but have been left off until the final rebuild, as they hide the screws that hold it all together. The next job to do on it is to give it all a good sanding to remove any loose paint etc and make it ready for painting. However, this will be undertaken next week, as I plan to spend the weekend in the workshop continuing making the limit switch bases that I started last weekend. So far the above has cost less than £50 and that was for the trelliswork that I've used for the sides. Considering I haven’t left the house or garden (which is only small) today, according to the pedometer app on my phone, I’ve clocked up over 1 3/4 miles! The evening was rounded off with a nice bottle of Malbec and catching up on some recorded TV. Goodnight all Edited May 15, 2020 by BSW01 19

Popular Post brianusa
As others retire for the night, we in GH are still doing our covid thing inspired by the trumphead who doesn't even were a mask. He thinks it spoils his good looks A bit of excitement to relate, we had our septic tank flushed today; always dodgy when they lift of the cover but this time no pong!. Our gardener thatched the lawn so hopefully it will be nice and green later on and thats the whole day except for to make dinner later. So another exciting day ends in the great PNW! Brian.
