And just like London buses, they all come along at once.

70806/807 are due on these shores in about 10 days and there's another two on their way.

the more i drive them the more i like them but the ride isn't as good as i thought it would be to be honest, very hard at times over rough track

they have a fair bit of power, as an example last weekend i worked a 56 from acton to llanwern with 650 tons and it felt very slow on the uptake, i think it may have been derated a bit to be honest, at one point we were doing 40mph through a certain place, then 3 hours later i had a 70 with 750 tons and at the same point, under the same conditions the 70 was doing 50-55 mph in notch 6 (out of 8)

now they are getting a bit mucky on the outside they are looking better too!

Your avatar looks familiar. I saw that one working through Chippenham on an extremely lightly loaded Westbury to Bescot - light being the operative word.

If you enlarge it there is a Turkish Delight wrapper stuck to the side.

Just the one!

Hi,

Time to add to the growing collection of 'Colas 70's at Westbury' pictures, a couple I managed to grab while going through Westbury last night while returning from the SWAG members day.

Here's pictures of 70801 & 70804, the bottom one being taken on an iPhone through a dirty 158 door window!

There was also another one further back from those two and another one sitting in the sidings behind the station at Eastleigh, so typically you wait ages to see one and 4 turn up at once!

I think its sometime late next week, its not my turn to move them this time though, so unless the other driver is otherwise engaged i'll be elsewhere unfortunatly

My pals were asking about the timing of the move.......let me know if you get a heads up on anything happening please.

Thanks....................Bob.

I haven't posted a photo of a class 70 for a while, despite photographing plenty of the things. So, here's a bit of an update

A couple of green ones to begin with

IMG_0339-70009-4O51-XL.jpg

70009 howls past Hay Lane, near Swindon, as it picks up speed working 4O51 Wentloog - Soton 10/2/14

IMG_0637-70009-4O27-XL.jpg

70009 approaches Oxford at Walton Well Road, having just crossed Oxford North Junction working 4O27 Garston - Southampton 12/3/14. It was only after I got home and looked at the photo on the computer that I noticed the appropriate TSR board beside the loco.

Now onto the Colas machines. I posted a shot of 801 on the Tilbury steel approaching Swindon a few pages back. Here's the other four, all working from Westbury to Bescot.

IMG_0607-70802-6M50-XL.jpg

70802 departs Hinksey Yard, Oxford working 6M50 Westbury - Bescot 12/3/14

IMG_0864-70805-6M50-XL.jpg

70805 crawls towards Cocklebury Lane, Chippenham following a late running HST, working 6M50 Westbury - Bescot 9/4/14

IMG_0918-70804-6M50-XL.jpg

70804 crosses the Western Arches on the approach to Chippenham station working 6M50 Westbury - Bescot 14/4/14

IMG_0961-70803-6M50-XL.jpg

70803 slowly passes Chippenham station working 6M50 Westbury - Bescot following a late running HST 15/4/14

Hopefully it won't be long before the weather improves again and 70806 and 807 drop onto this working
