I have just noticed that there's over 200 of us following this layout thread, which really speaks for itself. Hi Stewart, I had noticed that the number of followers had gone past the 200 mark too. Very flattering! You're right about speed shots of the DMU fleet, but you only have to ask! There is a reason why I haven't done WW's DMUs and that is that they normally run out from Waverley West to a turn back siding and then back again. Taking a decent speed shot usually takes quite a few attempts so running a DMU out and back to get a good shot can get a bit tedious. However, if I park the freight train in the loop opposite the depot, I can run DMUs on the outer freight circuit, which gives me more chances of getting a decent shot. Four DMU sets are normally on the layout at any one time. These are currently a Blue-grey 4-car 101 unit, a 128 Royal Mail DPU, a ScotRail-liveried 150 and a Strathclyde-liveried 107. So, here are some of the fleet at speed... First up is the Strathclyde-liveried 107 as it hits 70mph... Next is the parcels unit. Express Parcels anyone? Finally for now is the 150... The 150 is the old version with the motor block taking up the whole of one vehicle. I've fitted Pete Harvey's false seats etches to this one to help hide the motor block. I think it's pretty effective and really does help to fool the eye, especially given the dark tinting in the other vehicle.. The next round of improvements to the DMU fleet will involve the fitting of corridor connections. The Strathclyde unit is a favourite of mine too, Peter. The only two things left to do to it now really are to paint the inside of the body a suitable colour (as in the dark, the body sides show through slightly as a translucent orange) and to fit corridor connections.
