Whacky Signs.

Not sure about this one: the first time I saw it, I read "genetic engineering", and the second time, I wondered if they advertise themselves as specialists, so I looked up their website which says "Founded in 1998, Generic Engineering Limited has a combined experience of 60 years in the specialist industry of precision engineering"

I'd say the name under-sells them somewhat.

Harking back (or barking back) to post 204, another sign for literate dogs:

(Please use the dog station. Thank you)

and still in Germany, not exactly whacky, but seven consecutive consonants (is the moisture on the sign spittle from tourists attempting to pronounce it?):

Reminds me of the time we drove past a fire danger rating board somewhere in NSW in '03.

The arrow was pointing to the green 'Low-Moderate' section, but a small fire had gone through the area a few weeks before we passed by, and the sign was completely charred, except for where the arrow had been!!  Unfortunately we didn't have a camera handy so no piccie.

Matt.

edited for me being creative with my spelling!!!

We took a photo something like that many years ago at Mont Ste. Michel. The parking lots were tidal at the time, so the sign on the ramp said 'slippery when wet' or something like that. We took the photo when the tide was in, so the ramp went into the ocean.

Seen outside a local engineering business here:

"Vacancy: Boring Machine Operator"

..........not exactly overselling the role! :drag:

Maybe they were after someone who had no sort of life, or interests, to operate the machinery.

:)

Edited to add a missing comma.

A Golem perhaps? I came up with the idea for a clockwork Discworld train or road vehicle, powered by a on-board Golem continuously winding the key.
