Seen in B&Q (Solihull)

In the hardware section:

£8 each - 2 for £20 (Smoke alarms)

Blimey, school maths really has really changed since I was there! :O

On the Moseley road in Birmingham there is a pub called the "Merrymaid" (all one word)

Before it's recent redecoration an r & y were missing.

People were actually referring to it as the "Mermaid"!

Edit: added B&Q product!

Saw a builders van being driven with two asian guys in the front. On the side of the van complete with telephone numbers and the name of the firm [professionally done] was the logo,"You've tried the Cowboys, now try the Indians"

It looked fabulous.

That's been around for years.

There used to be a very non PC (and somewhat racist sounding) car service place in Birmingham which certainly wouldn't be allowed now.

"Golliwogs"

Slogan: "We don't put jam in jars, we put exhausts on cars"

Incidentally they were Black people that were running it!

Yes, but was it a successful business strategy? No point being witty, if it puts potential customers off.

It seemed to be until pressure to conform to a more modern outlook on racist issues prevailed.

It was around for some time but vanished many years ago.

EDIT

It may well be this organisation:
