Arthur
What a strange name for a pub Surely 'The Merkin and.......'' would be more fitting? Edited October 12, 2014 by Arthur
pointstaken
Seen in Basingstoke shopping mall yesterday - a handrail with a sign attached to it which read "anything attached to this rail will be removed" ! Dennis

pH
This isn't a sign, but the subtitle of the topic is 'Stating the obvious', and I think the French name for this power tool does just that: Incidentally, it was on special - $90 for $30, equivalent to GBP16.70 when I bought it last week. RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted October 17, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 17, 2014 A comes and goes saw! Like it. A bit like the German for submarine (Unterseeboot or U Boot for short) which translates strictly as an "under the sea boat"

A bit like the German for submarine (Unterseeboot or U Boot for short) which translates strictly as an "under the sea boat" I thought it translated as a jumbo sandwich. RMweb Premium The White Rabbit Posted October 17, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 17, 2014 Crocodile sauce - has a real bite to it. (Coat, hat, sneak out the back way...) I once saw a sign in a restaurant window "[The restaurant] is closed this week due to inadequate staff".
Ozexpatriate
"[The restaurant] is closed this week due to inadequate staff".The reason that many restaurants close - according to Gordon Ramsay at least.
Graham Walters
Best one I've seen in ages was in my local ASDA a special offer on pizzas. Two for £2 or £1 each

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted October 19, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2014 Not quite what it seems at first sight. I found this one yesterday adjacent to the new flyover at Reading - those who know the area will immediately see it relationship to the signs sometimes seen at model railway exhibitions because there are either some very high voltage track circuits in use or someone is trying to put-off trespassers. And if you don't know the area - the nearest 3rd rail electrified lines are over 1 mile away to the east!

RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted October 19, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Outside a mobile phone shop in Redhill this morning. Am I missing something? 20141019_120038.jpg As clear as mud. And all those mobile phone ads which entice us with offers such as "Zero £ up front on the £75 plan". Yes ........ right ........ Personally I'd need to be paid quite a lot to take a 4 gram tablet anyway Edited October 19, 2014 by Gwiwer
Ozexpatriate
Personally I'd need to be paid quite a lot to take a 4 gram tablet anyway 4g sounds like a high dose for a tablet, but most of the mass in tablets is inert filler anyway.

station cat
Well it is a kiosk 24 hours a day, just not an open one. Actually it's quite reassuring to know it doesn't lead a double life.
RMweb Premium petethemole Posted October 21, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2014 Confusing, I agree. I assume it means the liquor store itself is open 9-6 but they will serve you out of hours from a secure window/hatch, like some petrol stations at night. In South Africa by the look of it. RMweb Premium petethemole Posted October 21, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2014 I doubt many of the customers would be driving.
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted October 21, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2014 most of the mass in tablets is inert filler anyway. Not always true. The actual dosage is quoted not the total mass. I have to take some 400mg tablets (active ingredient) that weigh just over 500mg Keith
