Ruffnut Thorston
A SCORPION with a sting (pricewise) from our friend. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330923463613?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 It's not badly done, though the Bentley appears to be one of the plastic kits available some time ago and is roughly TT scale. (Harbutt's Replicars IIRC) Well, it's another "Kit Built" model. The chassis is NOT a flat wagon. It is the LWB chassis used with the HD Horse Box, Passenger Fruit D, and the earlier LWB Van (Mink) and Tube Wagons. It is a GWR Chassis though....Dean-Churchward brake handle... Yes, the brake on the windscreen...is this an early Motability car? "return to Pilning"...so, this is one of the car ferry wagons used through the Severn Tunnel..... Hornby DUBLO KIT BUILT This item has been scratch built on Hornby Dublo flat wagon base. It is fitted with Hornby Dublo couplings with plastic wheels. Chassis has extra brake rod detail added. Very nicely made with some very good detail to the chassis and great modification to the upper deck and sides. Bentley car has a repairable brake on the windscreen. The price is optimistic,,,, Though.... I tried zooming the picture, but Cartmel's pictures are so small that there is insufficient detail to be sure (extra marks to Gostude here!), but there do indeed seem to be no 'C R' mouldings in the panelling. (The later issues in GWR/LMS/SR livery had these removed.)

kintbury jon
How much will this go for? Well, it finished last night at a whopping £470. My son is absolutely delighted and he has his eyes on spending it already. He has been looking at the possibility of getting a sound engine though I don't want him to rush into anything. Interestingly, one of the high bidders (that didn't win) appeared to be a trader of high priced items. He had, for instance, recently sold a few FGW coaches at around the £70 mark as well as some Bachmann NSE 2EPB's at around £200. It surprised me that he would be bidding on a 'not mint' HST. I hope the new owner gets as much enjoyment out of the HST as my son did for around 4 years.
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted November 10, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 10, 2013 Well done Jon! I never realized that they are that sought after. I have a complete set. Run just the once. kintbury jon
If your set is as original it may well be worth more. I guess that FGW has such a large network that they are desirable. I must admit, I will miss it even if my son is not that bothered about it. Now I wonder what his FGW Turbo is worth...

HornbyA3Fan
Can somebody clear this up for me. Why are there too many high priced loco's, coaches, and wagons on eBay. I know that some loco's etc can be rare, but for an example a recent (past 5 years) Hornby HST pack in FGW purple over the £200 pound mark, i just find it quite absurd that it is more than twice the usual price found. Simples - Supply and demand. The auction market will stand what people are willing to pay for it. If somebody wants it desperately, they will pay. Witness the recent Hornby 67026 ebay sales.
