This guy is quoting postage costs for locos over £100 where he says the postage will only cover it for £50 if lost.

Is this 'legal'?

Tony

No it isn't.  With PayPal buyer protection, the seller is responsible for ensuring it gets delivered, otherwise PayPal give the buyer a full refund at the seller's expense.  It's the seller's responsibility to ensure it's fully insured, which for this amount would mean Royal Mail special delivery, or an alternative carrier.  Furthermore, £5.99 will almost certainly cover that.

A quick question to the seller brought this response:

Hi Colin, Special delivery next day by 1pm fully insured at £8.99

Oh dear....

Not the world's best conversion of a Martin Finney kit.

UPDATE: the auction has been "ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing".

Quelle surprise? Maybe it wasn't a Finney engine at all, but merely sitting on a box containing an unbuilt one?

On careful examination I believe it to be an amalgam, Airfix,Frog,Revell,GBL,Hornby,Bachmann........ Royal Saint Castle County Dean Churchward Metro Dare Class ........ok so it's a little know class but not a bad representation ! Just ripe for conversion !!!!!

Is it Code 3?

Think there might be some pantographs fitted to the tender and additional pick-ups for third rail working in cross region locomotive trials

This appears to be Gostude's German cousin. (Not everything it's true, but even our favourite seller occasionally has things reasonably priced.)

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/toyauction-de-shop/_i.html?rt=nc&_pgn=1&_ipg=48

Granted free postage, but over £15 for a piece of Trix Express track......

Perhaps we should invent a new classification:

'code 4'  =  cra rubbish.

Well when you try to put the layout inside it, you might find that it is just 10 inches too small to fit in that six coach long platform.

That doesn't look much like Mansfield to me....
