EBay madness

I think we've made this point before, but it really narks me that one of our supposedly reputable dealers would even try to make a sale out of that let alone charge £40 for it.

Are they not even bothered about their reputation?

I agree, my respect for that seller has gone way way down! I've bought items from them in the past but are they now that desperate!

..and what a load of spin about the broken roof - what a load of ......

Anyone needing a new airbrush will want to take advantage of this offering: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gravity-Airbrush-Kit-Double-Action-Trigger-tanning-cake-decor-nail-painting/111231562389

9 sold already!

It's a common practice: seller is out of stock temporarily, so bumps the price until new stock arrives.  Saves cancelling the listing and having to relist.

I have bought from them once, and was very disappointed.  They didn't seem to know the difference between a loco drive Hornby 9F and a tender drive one.  The tender drive one they sent went straight back!

Not sure if this is really madness but a good place to put it.  Am sure many of you know the difficulty of finding early Rovex items that haven't warped.  It made me smile when the opening gambit for this item said 'This set is in remarkable condition'.

Which one is that? None of them fit properly! The track is probably missing, because it has warped so much that it was thrown out.

It has a reserve, so presumably at least £50 is expected - they are rare, but....

A  loft is probably one of the worst places to store things made from acetate, with the extremes of temperature.

It might have cropped up on here but I recall some items where the goods were displayed by a lady in a state of semi undress.... and it wasn't a particularly pretty sight.

I wonder if they ever sold.

A cheeky selfie with the item for sale? Why not...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-Gauge-Gner-Mark-3-1st-Class-Coach-/141360444286?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20e9bd337e

I've noticed a pair of legs in the photo too - what a strange way to take a photo of an item!

EDIT: Seen the other items - more serious face in this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-Gauge-2nd-Class-Coach-/141360445227?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20e9bd372b

`Thinking' face:

Just the legs:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-Gauge-Shell-Petrol-Tanker-/141360436111?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20e9bd138f

Failing to hide:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-Gauge-Lms-Brake-Coach-/141360843278?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item20e9c34a0e&nma=true&si=odn6aYyTcZ1t%2BpUZLJxaU1t1JRc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I can't work out why the items arent just put on the floor (or chair, etc) to take a pic of them there?!?

Because there is no limit to human stupidity.

I like the nonexistent descriptions. Probably hasnt a clue what hes selling. Odd assortment dont you think?

Aw shucks missed it!

Still it's been relisted!  :)

IMHO 200 ohms is rather high for a model railway (I used one for pulse power many years ago and only about a quarter of the track gave any measure of control).

You can buy a new controller for that sort of money, but at least this is a "'rare" item that actually is, for once!

Shame - I missed it as well.

I did like the line "must have for any Model Railway enthusiast".  How have I managed all these years without one??

Hang on a minute, 80 sovs for the privilege of possibly electrocuting yourself?  :O

Always a risk building your own controller, but keeping mains voltage well away from everything else should be safe - leave transformers to the manufacturers.
