Just so that I can make sure I got it right, this is the fact that it’s supposed to be an LMS plaque from 1865 right? :)

Yep. And the seller is claiming that its both 'RARE' and vintage.

Will he reply? And will his/her/their/its (don't forget the pronoun thing!) reply be fit for delicate ears??

They haven't responded yet. As soon as they do, I will let you know what they said. :)

Certainly RARE given the date and the alleged company, as for vintage...

Which is why I often refer to "the vendor", neatly sidestepping all this pronouns malarky!

How much is a couple of pounds weight of brass worth as scrap?

It must be worth that at least...

Definitely less than £45.

There's a lot of this sort of junk about being touted as railwayana.

Another one is the wall mounted oil lamps stamped GWR, LBSCR etc. They were made (Completely legitimately I might add) in the 1990s by a company named Northern Lights in Chesterfield, for use in pub and hotel decor. There's also some very nice copper gas lamp tops available too.

The only railway connection being that their factory was on former GCR land.

I think you're all being a bit cynical here. Personally, I think it's finally scientific proof that time travel is possible  and  Mr. L. Andrews used his knowledge to save an awful lot of money  by future proofing his public notices.  As the Euromillions lottery was only rolled out to catch potential timetravellers, don't be surprised if it's mysteriously cancelled in the coming weeks now the truth is out there.

The seller would appear to agree, they have reduced it to a frankly bargainous £39.

Me thinks he is selling an expensive piece of scrap!

Reported it as fake.

On the flip side, (from the seller point of view) I’ve just been accused of ‘scalping’ by a supposed model rail enthusiast becuase I’m daring to sell more than one of the same thing that I bought with my own money. Disgraceful behaviour, I am appropriately chastened.

the fact that all of my items start at 99p and have no reserve appears to have escaped this person’s shimmering intellect.

I've been offered it for 35. A small price to pay for proof of time travel
