A visit to the East Midlands over the Christmas holiday gave me a few opportunities to capture some Tug action on the 6M57 Lindsey - Kingsbury tanks.

First up, 60059 crossing the River Trent into Leicestershire near Sawley on December 28.

60059 again, passing Attenborough on January 2.

60074 approaching Attenborough Junction on January 3.

Evening all,

60017 DB Schenker at Derby Station (1340) today with 4 point carriers and a 979 perch.

Then I called at Toton yard on the way to Nottingham to collect a car. I photographed as many of the ones in the line nearest the bank in the time I had and they are all on my flickr account for all to see.

Feel free to add comments I did have a few pictures not turn out right, so another trip is in order soon to capture them.

Regards

Mathew

So how many refurb 60s are out there and which are they ?

Scanning the various gen and info. I think this is the list of active 60's;

Refurb 60001/007/010/015/017/019/020/024/039/040/044/054/066/074/079/091/092/100 (all red except 60066 in silver [edit:] and 60074 in TCT blue)

Non-refurb 60011/35/045/049/065/071/099

60011, although in DBS red didn't go through the full refurb program.

Cheers,

Mick

074 is Teenage Cancer Blue as well. And another variation within the DB Red is 60007 with it's 'Switch on to Safety' logo on the sides.

Good to see the 60's that were for sale have been snapped up. Be very interesting to see where they end up!

Andy.

According to February Modern Railways the deal for Wabtec to buy 20 Class 60s from DBS has collapsed. Apparently they were "unable to agree terms". Quoted that DBS wanted more money than Wabtec was prepared to offer.

Remains to be seen what will happen to them now.

Rumour and counter rumour is that the deal is still on, but only for 10 locos.

This is definitely a "wait and see".

Any idea which 10 as I personally would have the ones stored inside the diesel depot at Crewe. If they are indoors then it's better than ones left outdoors. plus I'm hoping that 60002 High Peak is brought out as it's my last one I need to see.

Sorry no idea. There was a suggestion that 60096 at St Blazey was being prepped to move north. Personally, I'd like to see 60029, as it was named after a landmark that I looked at every day for 28 years - Clitheroe Castle - and I still drive past it every other day.

All we can do is await the official info.

Cheers,

Mick
