The Fall & Rise of the 60's ( was The End of the Tugs?)

Recommended Posts

It appears DB has split the scrap stored line - those retained and those sold.

Does anyone know who has bought some class 60s???

Do you have a filter activated on your camera as some of your pics just recently have a weird brown tinge to them almost like a 70s instamatic camera that looks a bit weird or is it an upload issue?

Thanks for the feedback Jim.

Not that I'm aware, but I'll have a closer look at some of the camera settings just in case something has inadvertently got changed.

Cheers.  👍

it’s strange as it’s not on all of your pictures across various threads

That's interesting.

I do use a couple of different cameras and although they're both Fujifilm, they're different models and I know from past experience that despite being set up with almost identical settings, they don't always produce similar, consistent results.

Your initial comment was timely as I hadn't been entirely happy with several of my images recently - a couple of the Colas 66s on the local RHTTs last week also spring to mind.

Time for a factory reset and a few tests I think.

Thanks again Jim.

Check your WB, 'white balance' settings.

I've seen it before on an old camera of mine. I think I'd inadvertently adjusted that rather than changed the shooting mode or something...

Yes, WB is one of the settings on my list to work through.

Saw a post on twitter this morning of a DB class 60 stating that all will be withdrawn by end of year.

I saw similar reference yesterday in a couple of other railway forums that I frequent so it may be accurate, or at least reasonably close to it.

There are only four DB Cargo class 60s currently operational in the active 'WCAT' pool;  60024, 60040, 60062 & 60074.

Slightly OT.

By some strange coincidence, 60024/040/062 are the only three DB 60s on my layout roster!

First use of a digital camera bought in the New Year Sales - Jan 2006. Low res shots on a point n shoot at Tees Yard. I was still taking proper film pictures then on the SL and these images were just playing with a new toy.  Sad to think how I often did not take pictures of 60050 Roseberry Topping as it was Thornaby's pet and was always there. Somewhere I have film image of 60050  being delivered to Thornaby.

GBRf 60047 Faithful heading west at Ravensthorpe on 30th January 2024 with empty JNA box wagons, working 6M74, Doncaster Down Decoy Yard to Tuebrook Sidings.

The area on both sides of the running lines here showing evidence of the Transpennine Route Upgrade work that's now increasingly evident on the routes towards Leeds and Huddersfield.
