Leamington & Warwick Exhibition is ON - 19-20 Jan. 2013

The show is ON.

However, the following are confirmed as not attending...

Arlescote, Bad Feriendorf, Eaton Gomery, Harton Gill, Unserstadt (layouts)

Art Dreams, Comet Models, DCC Supplies, Modelex, Shawplan (trade)

Scalefour Society, HMRS, ((societies)

That still leaves a decent show with ( I think) 19 layouts, plus the great majority of our traders and other stands.

We look forward to seeing as many visitors as possible.

Unfortunately due to conditions in the Thames Valley area, we are unable to staff the Pendon Museum stand at this weekend's exhibition.

Our apologies to Leamington & Warwick MRS and anyone who was hoping to come and see us.

Well done to everyone who has made it to Stoneleigh and our best wishes for a successful show. It still looks to be a great line-up.

We made it and were up and running by 10am.

Did help that we brought our own snow clearance equipment!

Even with traders and layouts that havent been able to make it, the show is still very good and I have still managed to buy too many items! .

Yes all the roads local are fine and cleared.Plenty of punters seemed to have braved the conditions too judging by the attendance, although it looks like they've reduced the hall size due to non attendees.

The layout that caught my eye was Newchapel Junction.Southern/GWR in O gauge very nice too.I believe this is one of the layouts due to be seen at the Doncaster show next month.

What I'd also like to 'big up' is the hardy souls who man the car parks at this show in this weather. They are the lifeblood of our hobby.Thankyou.

Well, the good news is that my ankle is much better so I'm pretty sure it will be up to stomping round the venue tomorrow. From a personal perspective I'm not that bothered by the withdrawals, two of them (Harton Gill and Eaton Gomery) I've seen before so missing out this time isn't too big an issue and one of the others is Z gauge which, frankly, I've never really been into anyway - it's too small for my eyes! And there are plenty more that I'm looking forward to seeing. Just so long as we don't get any blizzards overnight...

Not long returned from Leamington.

Despite the casualties the show was excellent, numbers down a bit, but that had its positive side in that it was easy to see the exhibits and to chat with folk.

Well done to everyone at Leamington for putting on a first class show in such adverse conditions, roads to the show absolutely clear, so if you missed today do go tomorrow.

Triple sausage bap with ketchup. £3.50 and available from Strollers by the show - That's a good start to the day!

Spent nearly the whole show yakking to people from behind Clayhanger Yard. Towards the end though, I thought a bit of superpower was needed and borrowed a shunter from Mercian Models:

Thanks to all who came along for a chat - if you didn't, there's still Sunday. The roads are clear and then lunches lovely. Some nice train sets and pleasent traders too.

Thanks to everyone who has left nice comments here, and everyone who attended today. As said, numbers were down, but the people who did come enjoyed an excellent show, I think our furthest travellers came from Newcastle (on Tyne), followed by a couple of modellers who travelled down from Chester by train and used our special bus service from Leamington on Spa station.

If yo didn't come today, why not come tomorrow, we had no snow today, the roads were clear all the way, and there were no repeats of Friday's problems on the roads. The show is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm tomorrow.

We look forward to seeing you.

I managed to escape for a few hours this afternoon to visit the show, although it did seem eerily quiet, there was certainly enough layouts and traders there to make the trip worthwhile for anyone thinking of going tomorrow. I hope the show isn't too much of a commercial disaster, perhaps the L&WMRS can agree some level of refund from the venue...?

Speaking of which, the new hall certainly improved the ambience of the event- and there's obviously space to expand into, should the organisers be willing. After all, if it can be done at a dingy warehouse just up the read near Birmingham...

I made the trek today.  The outward journey was clear until I left Watford Crap Gap after breakfast when it began to snow gently.  Not so gentle was the snowfall from about 2.15 pm which intensified the further south-east I drove.  The worst bit was trying to negotiate the street where I live but the car is now safely stowed and as the snow continues to fall is adopting the form of a mis-shapen wedding cake.

My journey was worth the effort.  The hall reminded me of the NEC except that it was light and welcoming and by lunchtime had a good number of patrons, which must make the organisers feel better.  On the menu for lunch was roast pork.  Now I never have Sunday roast but in adverse conditions you have to live a little.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.  There were sufficient layouts of diffeent types to appeal to most.  I liked Grafton, an essay in P4 which was in MRJ issue 44 and is very rarely exhibited.  If anyone wants to buy an award winning EM layout and has £650, Easington Lane is up for sale after its final appearance at Manchester in October.

I bought a few things.  One purchase was some old Merit cows which, as befitted the weather, were Friesian [groan].  In due course they will be reliveried unless I discover that the breed could have been found on Dartmoor in 1961.  One thing I did not buy was a length of brass tubing to form the lower part of the boiler in my pannier.  For some strange reason I could not remember the diameter of a 57xx's boiler.  Don't tell the Great Western Study Group or I'll be chucked out!

Chris [edited for typo BUT why do I now have to use full editor?  I tried to click on the error but the cursed cursor would have none of it]

The show is over. The layouts, bar one, have all set off for home. The last few traders are packing their stock.

Thank-you to everyone, general public, exhibitors, traders, and volunteers wo attended, despite the adverse weather conditions. We look forward to welcoming you all to our next exhibition.

Reiterating comments already posted... well done to those who disregarded the weather paranoia and took their layouts/exhibits/stands along, still a good show regardless of omissions and well worth the trouble free journey from north east Cheshire and back...

many thanks to all concerned for an enjoyable outing..

We made it home in 2 hours 20 minutes and have now unloaded.

Plenty of snow enroute back but the motorways were moving. A few cars oof the road around Stokenchurch on the M40 but no hold ups.

The hardest part was getting the car back on the drive!

Hope everyone else got home Ok.
