In between a big batch of 20 odd ICI tankers I have been tinkering with something a bit more modern... the first of 42 TTAs to be rewheeled in EM, couplings added and then dirtied....
tta1.JPG.daa10c8f1fe8dba53905018bad4df3d3.JPG

staining on the side using powders "washed off" using the ink mix and a ladies make up stick
the other side

Bachmann45TTTAbrownstain.JPG.24a1b196f645338b520d0d1b359c23ad.JPG

and the non ladder end
Bachmann245TTTAotherends.JPG.0c4bb32ba9b792e8ddc29b8fdc656fa6.JPG

all of these are standard Bachmann wagons.

so only another 41 to go.

Been doing a lot of wagons of a wide variety of shapes, sizes and types but all are now EM and have 3 links or instanter couplings fitted.

Bachmann 16T unfitted minerals have been part of the work. Just wish that Bachmann chassis were more "EM Friendly"!

first up - one of the minerals fitted with a pressed movable end door

and a standard 16 T mineral with doors in the floor

and the interior

First three of a lot more

An Airfix and a Bachmann SR designed 2+2 planked unfitted vans

twoexSRunfittedvans.JPG.b57ce74d97ff97a89ccb31cc22400244.JPG

and a Hornby ex LNER designed unfitted brake van

or rather, three of them

Recently I have been focussed on wagons. There are a wide variety to be worked on! All are fitted with EM gauge wheelsets (from Alan Gibson), then have  instanter couplings fitted, then weathered. The fitted vans have pipes added as appropriate.

A few pictures, first up a selection of Fitted wagons.

Just for a change I have been doing one of my own locos. It started off as a Hornby tender drive B17. Thanks to some help from Tony Wright (and a Poppy Chassis jig) it now has a Comet chassis with valve gear from a previous owner. And you can tell were her indoors was born and raised as it is

Grimsby Town.

post-7650-0-85426200-1461088882_thumb.jpg

And then I have noticed that the tender is not on the track

Next up a similar conversion which will be Sunderland!

So first up a Hornby Sulzer type 2 modified by someone into on of the earlier builds,

Mike Edge has EMd it

post-7650-0-63220300-1462303628_thumb.jpg

then I fitted a Leggomanbiffo sound chip with the speaker speaker in the fuel tanks

post-7650-0-82291600-1462303679_thumb.jpg

and three quarters front

post-7650-0-44439600-1462303706_thumb.jpg

Just a light dusting really - need to go back and clean up the speaker enclosure as I was waiting for the glue to dry and

need to clean the windows... amazing what a photograph reminds you to do !

Biggest problem was having to fasten bits back on when I had finished.

A DJH Black 5 built by an unknown builder. I have stripped it down and rebuilt it , then I repainted it (Halfords Primer and Top coat) Lined (by pen and also some old HMRS boiler band transfers) then weathered.

Brand new tarp... never used before.. it looks a bit darker in the flesh... so to speak...

It's a sheet - not a 'tarp' (on the railway a tarpaulin was something you wore in wet weather when doing outdoor work, especially shunting).  A sheet was something you put over a wagon to keep the wet out.  Hence there were places called sheet works where they made and refurbished sheets and whoever heard of 'Tarpaulin Stores Junction'?
