GordonC
Just found your thread. Hope the eye op went ok - I had a similar op a few years ago. It was knackering using just one eye while the other healed and was blurry and I went though several glasses prescriptions as the astigmatism from the op gradually returned to my pre-op prescription

It was knackering using just one eye while the other healed and was blurry and I went though several glasses prescriptions as the astigmatism from the op gradually returned to my pre-op prescription Hi Gordon, Thanks for info on the eye the medic's have told me I will need several sets of spec's in the coming years, I doubt I will be able to get my expensive £3.00 reading glasses anymore! Hope you enjoyed the visit to Dent, I spent the whole weekend in the den whilst the weather was stunning as I still can't really stand bright sunlight so instead I got quite a lot done all of which will feature soon. GordonC
If you managed with those reading glasses before your eye might just go back to around the same in time. I think mine took around 6-9 months. One lasting thing I seem to have found is that my eyes seem more sensitive to light since ... so I spend more time with sunglasses on outside or when driving. yeah you've got a fabulous layout there ... I've spent a lot of time in the area there and you've really captured it well!
67A
Hi all, Bit of an update on various projects over the past couple of weeks.. One time 9F ex: 92044 has undergone a renumbering and weathering job in the guise of 92058 as this loco has been noted on several S&C DVD's in this unkempt condition. New addition donated by my mate John in the form of Ivatt 2-6-0 ex: 46109 now repainted and renumbered as partially converted BR Class 2 2-6-0 78011 which was allocated to Farnley Junction and Manningham for a time. New addition to the fleet BR Standard 4 2-6-0 76114 was allocated far away in Scotland but it has a soft spot for me being a Corkerhill loco. Just a light weathering on this one. Another new addition donated by my mate John in the form of Fairburn 2-6-4T ex: 42121 repainted and renumbered as 42138 was a Holbeck and Manningham loco so fits the bill as a local candidate. On long term loan this time from my mate Peter is Patriot 4-6-0 45503 renamed and renumbered as 45507 'Royal Tank Corps' has also received a first weathering treatment. More to follow...
67A
The Patriot heads for the depths of Widdale tunnel Following on from the Parcels train is 9F ex: 92077 now renumbered as 92125 again for the same reason as 92058 earlier, I have been eager to change these two 9F's for ages. 92125 handles the heavy coal working easily BR Sulzer Bo-Bo D7645 heads a northbound fitted freight more...
67A
The Type 2 trundles through the station northbound Another acquisition, the Passer & Thrurer Tamper which I'm pretty sure were introduced just before steam ended, this is the motorised version. I'm slowly building up a decent CM&EE section. The main reason for the 9F changes is the new Anhydrite train now taking shape! All wagons are ex: Dapol unpainted 21T hoppers suitably butchered! Transfers courtesy of a special order from Railtec, fantastic service from Steve at Railtec! You may have noticed the absence of signals, this is for a good reason... They are all mounted on a test rig having servos fitted controlled the Megapoints unit, I think I have my head around the electronics now! That's it guys.
mark axlecounter
Hi Mike hope you are ok from the eye op. I have been busy with life and only just caught up with dent. And using my phone to look at rmweb doesn't help. We have used mega points and they are good for both signals and points. I have been asked to do my weathering demo at EM Manchester hopefully I will see you there. Mark

Cheers Andy, to be honest I'm loving Pencarne at the moment, its a real crowd pleaser for sure but if I remember correctly it's not for exhibition, if so its a shame mate. As for the signals,'They look a weeeeee bit complicated' ! Not from where I'm sitting - they're a bleeding nightmare! Spent the day installing them on the layout 'properly' and not just stuck in a hole and currently I'm connecting the wiring from the layout to the control panel where the Megapoints unit will be installed, mind you there's a first time for everything and there's nothing quite like the first time! Is RMWeb a bit dead or is it just me?

Yeah very dead, Jeff, Jason and many of the Old regulars seem to be to busy to post on other sites, such a shame as their input was always very valuable, and then of course we have lost Jock and his wonderful input. Hi Andy, Good news is I now have the electronics fitted into the control panel and the two plain post signals are operating okay but the bracket ones need a fair bit of tweaking, problem is I have positioned the servo almost a foot away from the signal so as to get to it from below due to the raised trackbed, I may just have to cut a larger hole and keep movements tighter.
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2016 I'm still here, looking in every now and again but I get precious little chance to post at the moment. I usually end up reading the forum on my phone and it's a pain to type more than a short sentence.
RMweb Premium Physicsman Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2016 As I was mentioned in the post above, I'll give my 2p's worth. Like Jason, I often find I'm not near a PC and use my phone to look on here. I'm using a phone now, and posting like this is a pain. I also find I spend less and less time on the Forum. Most days it's 5 minutes. I look at KL, post up anything quickly and leave. I've seriously considered closing the KL thread. Although the layout will continue - and is fun to build - I just don't have time to be on here, visiting thread after thread. I wish I did - and I feel guilty for not doing so. We will see how things go, but I can't see things changing in the foreseeable future. Great photos, Mike. This thread is just wonderful. RMweb Premium Jason T Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2016 I can see where you're coming from Jeff, but closing the thread is maybe a step too far, even if you keep it open just for you as a record of what you did, when and how. Chris and I rarely post in The Mill thread nowadays, partly because the layout itself is nearing completion but mainly because I get precious little modelling time nowadays and would rather use that time getting on with stuff (building loco and wagon kits mainly) than taking / editing photos and posting them up. The majority of posts that go on The Mill thread nowadays are before and after exhibitions, and the next it'll be appearing at is Leeds in October (although there were murmurings about it going back to Expo EM North in September). As an aside, I am also on a promise to construct buildings for a number of other layouts (including, possibly, Roy Jackson's Retford !!) but won't be posting updates on those. Sorry Mike, you can have your thread back now.
67A
Hi Jason & Jeff, Quite understand both your perspectives, as you know I was often on RMWeb almost every day at one point whilst building Dent, but I made the decision to post weekend updates which has allowed me more modelling time during the week, I do enjoy browsing the forum and the fact the site is a mine of information so I can safely say I'll be here a good while yet! Happy modelling to all
67A
Hi all, Finally I've cracked the signals, all four are now operational and have been tried out in a short running session last night, it added a whole new dimension to the operation side as the signalman was decidedly slow at clearing the line! All I need to do now is learn the bell-codes, at present all I know is 1 = call attention! Today I completed the build of a Parkside Dundas 'Trestle' wagon then started a Cambrian 'Salmon'. I have quite a few wagon kits to get through plus a further 15 Anhydrite conversions on the 'to do' list. I love a good variation in a freight train and I also really like engineers' stock and a nice little collection is now building up. I'll get a few pics' on tomorrow.
67A
Hi all, I went to the Bakewell show last weekend and the first few pic's are of a nice layout I saw but can't remember the name! Someone may know. Class 25 25054 in charge of a Speedlink service proceeds out of the station loop and over the viaduct. Class 47 47285 partially follows the same route light engine to gain access to the station sidings. Here the 47' collects a Speedlink van from the siding. Back to Dent....and the current position of the newly built 'Trestle wagon 3F Jinty 47394 emerges from the gloom of the 1269 yard Rise Hill tunnel with a short southbound milk train. Just about to head under the Coal Road bridge. The Jinty sedately rumbles past the station. more to follow........... if I can get this infernal machine to work faster!!!!!!!!!!
67A
May have to leave things tonight, either RMWeb or my laptop are on a go-slow, anyway here are 4 more for now... Terrible photo of Fairburn 2-6-4T 42138 on a mixed goods. The Fairburn is slowing for the signal........again. Rare view from the 'Up' embankment affords a view of the station building as a bonus. Stanier 8F 2-8-0 slows also for signals with an empty cattle train. The farmer has a new trailer and is struggling to disconnect it from the tractor it seems. That's it guys my patience has been exhausted, this little lot has taken me over an hour so far.

67A
Try again eh! The 8F rumbles slowly over Widdale viaduct. The cattle empties are held at the signal, there is an incident further up the line causing chaos it seems.# 48154 gets 'called on' to the next signal. Note the platelayers bin of general junk in front of the box'. The Fairburn and Stanier aren't getting anywhere very fast today. Spoke too soon eh! 42138 gets the 'right away'........... Poor old 8F is not so lucky....yet. but like the 8F its only to the next signal. At least the view is outstanding looking west down Dentdale for the crew to admire. Brakes off!!! and we're away Almost simultaneously! more to follow, things seem better must have been the server as I've done nothing.
