Rob, are you going to model that thingy on the chimbley (technical terms)?

Most definitely not.

I could be tempted by one of these beasts from Rapido, anyone else up for a S160.

I saw one on the ACE at Axminster in 1971. I was drunk.

Before I collapsed a fellow grocer told me they were kept with the strategic reserve of Grange 4-6-0s in that siding inside Box Tunnel.

I thought that was the armoured train full of German loot? Or is that in the siding on the down line?

Some news of interest from Dapol just announced. A 14XX ….and a 517.

Good news indeed, not just re these locos but, in the case of the 517, to see a manufacturer announcing a new RTR model of a loco class that didn't make it to nationalisation.  Bodes well for the future for us pre-war period modellers.

Interesting news this one, again we thank Richard Webster's @coeurdelyon influence at Dapol to do these. I'm sure Brian @BMacdermott will tell us how well the 517 polled last time.

Hello Rob and everyone

The 14xx was listed for the first time in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022  (the last poll to run before we run again near Christmas this year).

It was in The Top 50, being the most-wanted GWR loco. The class came in at overall position 6th.

The 517 has been steadily climbing the echelons. It came into High Polling - at the lower end - in 2016 and remained there in 2018. (We didn't run in 2017.).

The class climbed higher in 2019 and was just four votes short of The Top 50 in 2022.

Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

I wonder if Hornby will be tempted to produce a special edition…..but without headlamps. Though I should imagine the tooling is either worn or disappeared by now. In which case, step forward Dapol,Accurascale or Rapido.
